there are alot of shops around the Yonge & College area,

www.releaserecords.com
www.easternbloc.com
www.thepitrecords.com
www.playderecord.com

But I find the best selection from the net.

^^^ That about sums it up.

Even if you order online, you should go to a real store to get the feel of "real" vinyl shopping, it's quite relaxing, pleasing and fun!

Also you might find some gem you wouldn't get online.

For trance, I find that Play De Record has a decent collection (surprisingly), then the Pit tied with Release for second. Release is very nice overall, though they have a larger prog. collection imo. (this is strictly speaking about trance, aforementioned stores have very sizeable collections of other musical genres)

Back in 95 I was playing breaks when I just moved down to Philly. I used to shop at 611 records, but switched to Modern Music in Baltimore when I popped in after a gig. I used to go through Jason Patrick who was also a breaks dj at the time. He turned me on to alot of trancey, proggy breaks that were around at the time and I started to buy alot of trance/prog to the point that I changed my style to just that. From end of 95 to beginning of 98 I played almost exclusive sets of Trance and Progressive as Ellis D and kept playing breaks/house as Darren Ellis. I still have alot of those records and would be willing to sell them. I don't have the time to post all the titles, but if anyone is serious about buying them you can contact me at [email protected] and we'll arrange something.
