just found the greatest progressive trance mix (ever)

to me, progressive trance is quite a rare beast, and unadulterated progressive trance mixes, even rarer. in comparison to progressive house, or even just "progressive", it had a pretty limited window in history - where as progressive house is still going strong today, and even has been through different phases - there really was only one style of progressive trance - it never busted out of its derivative, and was swept away with trance itself.

so, i came across this complilation which really got my attention, featuring exclusively progressive trance - as opposed to intermingling with its house variation.

incidentally mixed by dave seaman, it is distinctive with its warm shimmery spiritual trance vibes combined with the classy structure and instrumentation of progressive.

take a swatch at the tracklist:

01. Sound 5 - The Haçienda Must Be (Re)Built
02. Rui Da Silva - The Four Elements 'Earth'
03. Simon Pearson - Free At Last
04. Moby - Porcelain (Futureshock Instrumental)
05. Ian Wilkie - Guten Morgen
06. Mandalay - Deep Love (Charlie May Remix)
07. The Ananda Project - Cascades Of Colour
08. Inertia - Vellum
09. Gloat - Wuarp
10. Brothers Love Dubs - 1-800 MING
11. Muse - Sunburn (Timo Maas Remix)
12. Above - New Day Dawning (Above's Dub)
13. Breeder - Tyrantanic (Slacker's Kingdom Come Mix)

01. Pete Lazonby - Sacred Cycles (Quivver Remix)
02. Planisphere - So Many Ways (Force Mass Motion Remix)
03. Luzon - The Baguio Track (Bedrock Remix)
04. Bleachin' - Peakin' (Jimmy Van M's CPR Remix)
05. Ballroom - 4 AM

Paradox Lost
Was a damn fine mix. I'm not sure how familiar you are with the label that released it, but they also released a bunch more in similar vein from other high profile acts at the height of the style's popularity. Look into GU Los Angeles, Budapest, San Francisco, Hong Kong, and Ibiza if you liked Cape Town.

Good mix compilation for sure, but I wouldn't say both discs are exclusively Progressive Trance. The early half of the first disc is early 00's Prog which is more Housey. Yes?
Kilixpree
ing awesome, indeed, but i don't think that this is the greatest progressive trance mix ever.

Seaman's mashup of Pako - Western Approaches and Dina Carroll on Renaissance London is a classic. I always thought it was an actual track until I realized what he had done. :O
Sushipunk
Yeah, I'm really into this one too. Disc 2 especially.

Hmmmmm, I wanna go count up how many mix-comps feature Tyrantanic or some version of it.

Heh, Breeder sure was a prerequisite for Trance mix back then.
