do any of you use dedicated live monitoring? or just get your sound off the mains .....

I need to invest in a pair of monitors for live mixing ( actually vj ing ) and .... I'm hesitant, should I consider getting actually flood baths( floor mons ) .... or .... normal speakers put on incliners...

this is kinda tricky....

what setup do you usually get or do you try to ask for ?

( my fav would be the smallest speakers, so I can actually take em on the plane when I do outside gigs)

you can't go wrong with jbl eons
they're self powered and they pack a nice punch
for what you're doing, you might only need one
hey cheggy
I use a pair of Jamo 3-way's for my monitors. They're good cos the beat isn't heavy, it's really clear so you can hear the beats start to go before the people hearing it can. They're still run off the same amp though, just out of different channels.

I don't see the point in getting a pair of JBL monitors, or anything like that, cos unless you're using them in a club atmosphere, they're a waste of money. And a club will (should) have their own monitors.

this is for clubs , and trust me, they don't plan the for vjs ...... ; and I'm also going to be taking the plane .... and when you're hauling around :
2 laptops
a video mixer
2-3 vcrs
2-3 dvd players
2 projectors
2 screens
loads of cables
and other stuff..........

well .... you have to get a smaller sized monitor that's TRANSPORTABLE
DJ_Shockwav
like i said... if you want small and transportable... go with a self powered speaker... either the eons or the mackies
they sound good and they're easily transportable
