Share why you like Acid sounds :)

Ya know, at first when I heard those squishy psychedelic sounds of Acid Trance and Acid House, I didn't like it at first either. Was hard to get into and all I saw in my mind at the time was weird images. I was 17 at the time I believe, back in 2009 or 2010.

I noticed that Classic Trance was very prominent with that Acid sound, along with Progressive Trance. As time went by I fell in love with it. It's like, distorted, unique, and very interesting as you can just sit back and imagine interesting imaginations in your mind of what you perceive. I find myself getting lost in long intervals of time just listening to a rolling bassline at times. A psy bassline is awesome.

My most favorite acid tracks are tracks like Hallucinogen's LSD track, Loops of Infinity (Arpeggiator Remix), Emmanuel Top - Acid Phase, and many many others. A lot of the Eye Q stuff is fascinating.

Throughout the years of EDM there have been different types of sounds used to create different types of tracks, but I have often found that most people here on TA prefer anything that is Acid-like or psy. So, just of curiosity, what got you guys to prefer this sound? What aspects of it do you like? Are you just a purist old school guy, or is there something within the music that really touches you?

edit: sorry for the thread spammage btw. just deal with it and share what you like!

I've been an acid head for many years - hard to describe why I like it - I just love the raw sound of a 303 coupled with some Roland drum machines and synths.

My first acid track that really did it for me was New Order ‎– Confusion (Pump Panel Reconstruction), which I listened to repeatedly on my Blade cassette soundtrack, when I was like 13 or so. Years later I listened to some oldschool techno sets where I heard Afghan Acid and Psychonautic Experiments - Flood, and that really made me an acid head. I would subsequently buy and collect oldschool (early-mid 90s) acid/acid techno records, along with some techno from that time. Eventually I got a 303 and started making my own acid.

I like some acid trance and a bit of acid house too, but my favorite is generally acid/acid techno/acidcore. There are still some nice hard acid being released nowadays, too.

A recent favorite:

What I can remember goes back to 1988 when I was 14 and bought my first LP. These two were the first acid sounds for me I think:

Around 1994 Emmanuel Top - Acid Phase (and Turkich Bazar and Tone) was awesome, but Scooter - Hyper, Hyper (Harder, Faster, Scooter) was the track with a 303 sound which for me brought massive energy to the dance floor. Also Move Your Ass and Let Me Be Your Valentine. Among many others Dj Misjah & Dj Tim - Access in 1995 is a track I want to mention.

I guess this is how I like the acid sound, supporting and not too wild:

I didn't like acid either at first, now I love it. Can't really say why I love it tbh.

Like Trance-M says though, I like it as a supporting sound rather than pure acid tracks with just an 808 and some 303s.

Because they sound badass.

That said, I can't name a single acid track I truly, and I mean really truly, like. Nobody has incorporated those sounds properly yet.

Either you haven't been listening to the right tracks, or you're just not much into the acid sound.

I bought a Goa cd back then too, but just one :)

These also on one of my first compilations, Dance Opera Trip 2, I like the second track best:
