In regards to hardware vs software, it doesnt matter much, hardware synths just happen to be better synthesizers in general not necessarily because they`re made of metal and plastic.
VST's has caught up long time ago. But they way you use hardware matters a lot, its more hands on approach making it sound more genuine, thus the music becomes more interesting. |

After 30 years of house music, it deserves an appreciation thread and more, but the best days of all the house subgenres are clearly in the past. |

Can someone post an excellent house music track? I'm not into dance scene these days, so this can be useful to me.
Thanks |

Everyone's entitled to their (ty) taste in music. |

This post is so typical of this website.
The trance fans whine about there being no new sound aesthetics yet vehemently oppose everything that sounds different from what they already listen to. |

Dance music will always be inferior to non-dance music. How hard is that to understand? It's a poor, limited category. You can't have much variation in there. Even the best of the best of dance music (which has nothing to do with trance or house or any such club music) sounds laughable compared to real music.
Besides that, trance and house have always been rubbish genres. The only reason people think otherwise is due to nostalgia. They grew up with these genres so they remember them as something great when, in reality, there was never anything great about them. They simply were kids of poor taste who fell in love with that , possibly under the influence of drugs which they were, lacking analytical skills, unaware of (Acperience, for example, is a rubbish track.)
The real difference between stadium trance/house and classic/acid trance/house is this: stadium house is bipolar, classic trance is autistic.
Let's get real, folks. |
Why would anyone bother with you? try the Mozart forums;) |

| I am open to the possibility that I am wrong. In fact, I'd love to to be proven wrong. |

How are we supposed to prove that? There's no objective criterion for what makes something excellent or rubbish.
It's just that none of your offensive and overstated post makes any sense, apart from maybe the first sentence. Thing is it's not the music that's limited, the people who listen to it are the limiting factor as they're going to want something they feel comfortable dancing to.
But even so, I don't see how that makes it rubbish? Every form of music has to adhere to certain limits in complexity otherwise people are simply not going to listen to it. More isn't always better when it comes to artistic works. |

Care to share some? I've been feeling like house is a lost art nowdays.
As you can tell, I'm into the funky / piano variety so if that's still being made, that would be cool. |
