no takers? got 500 plays in 2 days on this mix and only one was from TA. maybe i shouldnt even post here anymore |

| Where did you get the plays from |
|

i guess all the other forums i'm a part of (3) and websites (2), as well as friends, my fans, and facebook.
TA clicks have been on a steady decline while everything else is up. not sure if it's because this is TA and everyone focuses on trance/house/techno or just the general trend of TA slowly dieing out :( |

Pretty decent mix here. Haven't had a chance to get through it in one sitting yet. Picked some great tunes and most transitions are clean, there were a few that felt off but couldn't tell you which ones, but you kind of expect that with lengthy mixes. I also felt the mix kinda lacked a sense of direction from macro point of view.
That said the track at 1 hour 24 mins (maybe that Saroos track?) in was a nice choice and really think the closing tune from Loss is beautiful. Liked some other tunes too , but again couldn't tell you which ones. |

Agree with you there - I'm still learning how to properly do these 3 hour mixes. My idea was dancey/more energetic (90 mins) -> sexy/downtempo (60 mins) -> electronica/other/chill (30 mins) [times are estimates]. From a standard DJ set point of view, this is backwards, but doing things outside the norm and experimenting is one of my things I like to do :)
And ya some of the transitions are definitely pretty poor. The transition into Out There In The Random by Mocean Worker (around 26/27 mins for you lazies!) I am really unhappy with, for example. I've found it's really difficult to mix this type of music coherently with perfect transitions. It's a lot easier to do with standard build tracks (techno, house, trance, psychedelic, and so forth). With this type of music each track has a different structure, different beat pattern, etc. I think track selection and flow is more important, which I obviously need to still work on a bit!
Some of the mixing is off key for sure. Couldn't be helped. I know this has upset quite a few people but I dont feel strict harmonic mixing is the end all be all of transitioning. It's too restrictive.
Thanks for listening!! :)
edit:
Since you liked the last song, you'll probably like his entire EP. It's really good! Was released on Kastle's label. They've been releasing a ton of really good EPs lately |

I listened to the whole thing over two sessions at work (I Iandscape so I need long sets to make my day pass). I was really impressed with the consistently of overall tracks and enjoyed that you were eclectic within said genres. As in you didn't put all the same types of tracks all together. Over all nice work, I'll be listening to it a few more times and trying to pick pick out my favorites for my own use.
I did a set somewhat similar a few months ago inspired by Nicholas Jaar's strange music, so I know what you mean about mixing different beat structures a lot. It was nice to try something different and often use quick transistions when necessary. Check it out:
