First video was Joyson's track, really amazing performance by them.
I was just playing around with the mixer to get a feel for it right before I mixed in my first track.
Second video is me, and it's actually the first dance track I ever heard & still my favourite.
I was walking my dog, by the water in my hometown of Montreal and I saw a group of people wandering over somewhere, so I decided to explore. What I later found out, was that it was a techno party with some guy named Ricardo Villalobos and he was playing a festival called Piknic Electronic. I walked in right as the sun was breaking through the clouds and this record came on. 5 years ago, at 19 years old, I had no idea what this music was and this day was my first experience.
coolest part of it all - that moment was actually caught on film. The track is called Blaze - Lovelee Dae (20:20 Vision Mix) and it's a big classic house record on strictly rhythm.
| Excited to see you at Output in Brooklyn July 11. Happy you got good reviews in Miami! I was at Mutek for the first time this year and Ricardo was amazing. Sad I missed him at Piknic but that was an amazing party.
Hoping to also catch you in Berlin at Berghain with Mano! |

I know this is off topic but does anyone else not really feelin Berghain's policy? Honestly, if I went to Berlin, I don't think I'd even want to go to Berghain. From what I've read and seen and heard from people, Watergate is more my style. Berghain and their elitist yet randomized door policy. I'm not good enough to party in your venue because some freak-of-nature bouncer didn't like my outfit? off.
Always looked at the underground techno/house music scene as being inclusive of people given those people are down for a good time. Berghain is the opposite of that. I guess if your attire screams neo-industrial-techno-viking then you are good to go. So by imposing their door policy to not let any "undesirables" in, they are really not letting in a lot of people that actually do like the music (like yourself John). I know my clothing style is the farthest in thing from what Berghain wants but I think anyone who's met me can attest to the fact that I'm pretty damn passionate about the music and always have a blast. So no, no desire to go. |

thing is you gotta be able to not take it personally. sometimes it just wont go your way. this is why you need to go friday evening early, if you get turned down, come back 12 hours later and try again when different bouncers are there. if you get accepted your first try, you get the stamp and can leave. you dont have to stay. if you come back later, you'll have the stamp and can get right in.
from everything ive heard, its beyond worth it. its not about keeping "undesirables" out, its about keeping a unique mix of people inside all of which are good for the party.
i think you should suck it up and go. follow the basic "rules" to getting in and if youre lucky youll have one of the best nights of your life. i went once before i ever really knew what the place was, yea instantly rejected. but i now know what i did wrong (besides showing up in a polo shirt after dinner lol). im going back until i get in. even if they turn me away 10 more times. i will get in eventually. and it will be magical. |

| My experience. I didn't get into Berghain on my first try. I knew I wouldn't because of some stupid (unzipping my black jacket and letting my shirt show that had too many bright colors). Yea, it's that ing ridiculous. But I knew it'd happen. There's a vibe there and you ing feel it. Once I got denied, I stood outside thinking, "This is what dance music is all about? Denying people who - like me - love this music to the point of addiction?" Again, I thought about the vibe I felt in line before getting denied. I'm sure only the truest feel that . Anyways, I sat there for five minutes reflecting on my love of this scene and all that it stands for. Here you have this mecca of a club and it denies you, standing against what the music it plays inside stands for. Meh. For a split second it was a big deal, then I snapped back to reality and realized I was in Berlin. Of course I had a backup plan, too. Duh. No Berghain equaled me jumping in a cab and going to Watergate to see Derrick May. To be honest, thanks for not letting me in. It worked out beautifully. Not only did May and Watergate absolutely sweep me off my ears and me gently, but it set the tone for the rest of the trip in a way that I can't even begin to describe. Danke! |

Meh. I've read this type of comment a million times before I went to Berlin. Typical.
There's too much in Berlin to give two s like that IMO.
Tresor, Watergate, Suicide Circus - I wouldn't trade any of those nights for a minute in Berghain. |

Didn't read this until now. Yea, brother.
I think I fit the bill. I'm a bald, tattooed, techno loving Polack for sake LOL.
Seriously though, there's a mystique to it. I'm sure if I tried a second time during my trip I would've gotten in. I didn't care enough, though. I had such a great time in other places around the city Berghain didn't cross my mind. I'll be in that place one day or another anyways, no big deal. |

Lots of good responses here. I am really excited for Berlin. There is so much to do. So many clubs I want to see. I am landing at 730 in the morning and I am going to try and get into Berghain then. I hope the party goes on till late so I can hear some Mano & Michael. We are also heading to the Berlin, Beats & Boats party.
I loved Mano's set in Detroit this year :eyes: |

No one in Ibiza tomorrow? Friends and Friends of Friends welcomed.
More nervous for this than anything this summer actually, especially since I need to bang it out.
Would love to accommodate anyone.
