| If you have heard "Mongrel...Meeet His Maker" (off GU 023, an AMAZING track) or "Six Days" (which is not that great but cool vide) you know this guys sound. What do you think of it? I think its fresh, experimental and I absolutely love it. DJ Shadow ahs premired on my top 10 as you can see below! ;) |

Get "Endtroducing" (I think his first album). I haven't heard a lot by him but some stuff. I think I put him up there with Q-Bert in terms of dj'ing in that way (turntablism/sampling etc) he is top notch. |

| Welcome to the 1996 Seventh City! :) Seriously if you like what you've heard so far you need to go buy all 3 of Shadows albums: "Entroducing", "Pre-Emptive Strike" and "The Private Press". If you haven't ever heard "What does your soul look like (part 2)" you are SOOO missing out. 13:51 of aural excellence. Another top tune is "Blood On The Motorway" from his latest album. Its f'n amazing. Shadow is the man. |

I second that tune. My god, it just builds and builds, and it has the sickest break!!
Endtroducing is a masterpiece though. Every tune on it is awesome with its own unique style. Shadows skills are amazing.. he doesn't create any of the samples used in his tracks. All ripped outta records from the 50's through to the 90's, from all different styles. Seriously, i dunno how he finds all these tunes with these samples!!!! |

yeah likewise, i think that track is off da hook. But its taking me a while to get into hip hop stuff. Same with UNKLE (shadow and lavelle)
the highlight of that album for me is disc 1:
Let the good times roll and Stir fry's
i think stir fry is PMT or PFN one or the other, amaizng bad ass breaks on 10 Kilo.

Unfortunately I haven't heard much by DJ Shadow...but the little I have heard is brilliant. He's definitely got a fresh sound. Hmmm, I've got to hear more of his stuff...
Mongrel...Meets His Maker is certainly one of my favourite tunes from GU023. |
