Guy Gerber’s Cosmic Independence
Israeli Artist Returns to Marquee New York For Second Residency Date July 4 with an All-Night Extended Set
After mystifying Marquee at the April kick-off of his NYC residency, Guy Gerber, returns to the Big Apple, to commemorate the occasion of American independence on July 4th.
It’s little wonder Marquee chose the Israeli techno auteur to headline an occasion that celebrates resistance and rebellion. Gerber is one of dance music’s most subversive and singular talents, an outlier who eschews of the moment trends, he’s far more comfortable blazing a path that is uniquely his own.
Whether it’s his inimitable production style imbuing electronic music with real emotion while still moving dancefloors, his newly launched label Rumors, his forthcoming ‘11 11’ album with Diddy, or a Fabric mix inspired by a break-up, nothing with Gerber is ever straightforward or predictable.
At the forthcoming July 4 event, Gerber will play with the ever American themes of exploration and space. Anyone who attended Marquee in April will know Gerber’s production team completely transformed the venue, and July will be no different. Metallics, cosmic sounds, cyber techno, all will come together to transport attendees out into the Gerber Cosmos. How better to celebrate the birth of a nation, than blasting out into space with an extended set from one of dance music’s last outlaws.
Since finishing his controversial Ibiza residency ‘The Wisdom Of The Glove’ last summer, Gerber turned in one of the best-received Essential Mixes of 2013, played Coachella, was named Resident Advisor’s #4 live act in the world and has been working on the completion of his ‘11 11’ project with Diddy. Gerber also launched his new label Rumors, with a collaborative track with Dixon, and will return to Pacha Ibiza over the summer.
About Marquee
To create this residency, Gerber is collaborating with Marquee on their weekly Friday night dance party which has featured some of the world's best underground artists every week since the landmark club re-opened in January 2013. Curated by residents Sleepy & Boo, Fridays are all about cutting edge DJs, playing before a rapt audience of music-lovers, presented in Marquee's unparalleled audio and visual environment. The club's pristine Funktion One sound system, floor-to-ceiling LED walls, custom-designed lights, and dramatic open interior space offers the perfect tableau for Gerber to present his unique musical and artistic vision.

Guy is a god. He played a beautiful set last night. Had some technical difficulties around 2am or so (I think?) - the music cut out for a good 5 mins, but when he got it up and running again, he just started hammering it.
Incredible stuff. The crowd had a good vibe too (for the most part), some typical Marquee DBs were around, but the people way up front were mad chill.
Here's a video of a gem of a track that he dropped - can anyone ID it please?
