Pff, Honestly I don't see anything major happening at all.
Despite the sensationalist press beaming otherwise there's really no major change in the Parliament. I highly doubt the populists will be able to form a workable coalition without fighting each other over absolutely everything as the far-right is always wont to do.
It's mainly a national issue. Cameron is just ed. He's already trying to blackmail the commission but he won't be achieving anything.
Meanwhile I assume his own voters will not take kindly to being blackmailed either as he has done with his referendum, so he's just going to lose to labour come next election and that will be end of story.
As for Hollande, he's definitely in a pinch too. We might see some more french folk rise to prominent positions (poor juncker!) as a result. But honestly, I find it very unlikely for Le Pen to win the presidential elections. And until that happens there's not going to be any threat of an exit, which would be devastating for the EU. |
