Bren-F vs. MaRt - Awake (The Placebo Effect Remix)

A powerful, uplifting remix.

The Placebo Effect - Silver

This track has been circulating around the hub a bit, and gotten some good reviews. Enjoy this one!

Good arrangements.
Badly in need of more compression
Badly in need of thicker synth sounds (or maybe more effects)
Kick is way too soft.

I like the second song a lot more. It has a good melody. I just wish that there was some more power behind those synths.

Try to avoid the "Fruity" sound if possible.
davinox
what do you suggest should be done to add power? I think the synths in Silver are pretty uplifing, especially the second build, but I would like to hear your oppinion on what could be done to enhance them.

I also would like you to explain what "compression" is.

these songs were done on Reason, so I hope they don't sound Fruity, but I know what you mean. What parts did you think were fruity?

thanks for listening, and sorry for drilling you with these questions. :D

[edit: OK we realized what you meant by compressing.]

The links don't seem to work... loads and loads but nothing happens...

Yup same problem here. I'm using IE, if that makes any difference.

Davinox has promised to send me lots of money in return for saying that the download is now located at trancendio.com, and that you should check out trancendio.com 'cuz it's a good one' :D

I've just managed to get the Awake remix off the hub

Ive got to say its a nice mix. but I feel the mastering is a bit poor
the lead seems to overpower the whole thing a bit too much and I thought the basslne was a bit cheezy.

But other then that its a well constructed remic with some great ideas in it.

Keep em coming,
Bren-F =-)
