Basic as hell:

But ing powerful. I ordered like 6 of them just to stash around at work/car, etc. They take 1 AA battery and basically use that until the end of time. And to think I just had Maglites before... |

I also switched to a safety razor:

Will never, ever go back to disposable Gilette/Schick, etc. that's completely overpriced and ineffective. Haven't cut myself once, you just have to get used to the contours of your face and take it easy. Blades are incredibly cheap- as you can see, like $14 for a 100-pack that could easily last you a year. And the Razor apparatus, itself, is thick stainless steel that's more likely to break whatever you drop it on, rather than the Merkur.
A lot of people recommend all of the thematic accouterments to go along with safety razors like a badger fur brush, medicated shaving cream, etc. Whatever. I just use hot water and soap (if I feel like it), but my hair is pretty fine, so it's more of a personal preference to just not deal with that . |

I made the same switch....
I spent $20 on 100 blades and other than soap I'm set for the next 4-5 years. Better shave too, assuming you do it right.
I just use the cheapest mug soap going (Williams, which is about $1.50 and will last 6 months or so). I've had a badger hair brush for years and I do recommend it, it makes a great lather. |

Do youself a favor Tabac soap + Feather blades. I've also switched to making lather on my face instead of a bowl.
