Hi guys, I'm doing my master's research for Berklee College of Music on the behavioral characteristics of electronic music fans vs. fans of other types of music. It would be great if you could help me out by taking this survey and letting me know some information about how you interact with recorded music.
Here's the survey:

The results are going to be pretty interesting. I've had a lot of responses so far. I'd be happy to update everyone with the results once I'm doing doing the analysis.
Thanks! |

I almost thought this was spam... If it's science, it's good.
Good luck with your dissertation :) |

Thank you!
Ha, yea it's been pretty difficult to move this around without getting accused of spamming. The only thing I can really do is try to be present where it's posted and reply to any questions.
I appreciate you taking the time to check it out. |

I understand this attitude. Obviously there will be a bit of bias and conjecture involved. But, we're not dealing with medicines or rocket science - it's simply meant to provide data and you can make of it what you will, even if it's just for entertainment. It may be helpful for some purposes, but by no means do I claim it is going to be 100% scientifically accurate. It's just a tool that can be referenced to hopefully give some honest insight into how different types of music fans are behaving differently.
It may not be perfect, but there's really no other way for me to get this kind of data. |

Haha, well, it's as close to science as he can get onlinely.
And "onlinely" is totally a word. |

Haha, I like this word.
Not only that, but it's the only way I can get this kind of sample size which will hopefully help to reduce some of the biases. I've reached over 4k responses so far. I can't imagine finding 4k people to take this in person. |

| This is probably the first survey ever posted on TA by someone doing research that isn't hideously flawed, so for that reason alone I filled it in. |

Thanks! That makes me feel good. |

| It's probably a bit late now you've had thousands of replies, but one question that did feel flawed was the one that asked how often I used certain methods of discovering music. The jump from "once a month" to "once a year" felt too large and I ended up marking a lot of answers in the latter category because I'd only really use them once every 3-4 months. |
