I'm using Ableton, I'm using a 27 inch widescreen currently and I'm finding the length is good but the width doesn't quite show me all the tracks I want to see and I'm having to scroll up and down allot.
I've thought about maybe getting another 27 and turning them both vertically.
Any thoughts/experiences/tips for the ideal setup? |

it is weird. I always find screens too wide. Right now, i have 6 monitors. 2 up front, 2 verticals on the left and 2 verticals on the right. I have a seperate room for orchestration stuff so i no longer use the 3 verticals i used to.
oh and the ipads. so i use 2 which revceive audio from 2 apogee duets as imaging information, and then 2 as controllers. It looks like a spaceship. One run by someone that is really disorganized. |

I always thought that one portrait in the middle and two landscape either side would work well.
Never had the space to try out that theory though. |

there is diminsihing returns tho the wider you get. i think 2 x 24 is really as wide as you can go and then you start craning your neck. |

I wish there were better screen workflow tools for Mac. I have similar screen like that without thst nice middle fold but it wasn't high enough so I relegated it to the office. |

I liked this then I saw its only using 19" sized screens
Maybe a vertical 27 and a horizonal 27 or so screen is my best bet, also Ableton 9 comes with Multi monitor support to split its components up a bit. |

I'm also debating the idea of a 32" 4k screen right now. I'm just not sure if everything is going to look too small on it.
And a good one will be silly money still. |

they are selling these lcds with 0 frame. 2 x 25-27 should be plenty.
Try to get ips so that you can angle them and still see and be able to have your monitors above at ear level . |

I can't recall if you're on a Mac or PC, but what are you using for graphics cards? |

2 mac pros and 1 pc and a imac. The imac doesn't use a screen, just vpn screen viewning as i rarely have to use it.
just your standard duel head mac pro ones. I did have 2 cards in one at one point, but now I use the pc which does have a quattro but that is for making videos and stuff.
For anything non orchestral , only using 1 mac and a pc.
The left and right screens i only use say when i'm desining a sound or chain so i just sit looking that way. |
