So this thing finally happened, and I actually found myself enjoying it far more than I imagined I would. As you'd expect, it's minimal, but is originally nuanced enough to be several fathoms removed from being 'mnml.' I have to admit, based upon Hawtin's productions and setlists throughout the past five years, I didn't think he had inspiration like this left in him:

This is a mixed LP, and the vimeo page doesn't provide any cue markers, but the first and final ten minutes are just gold. |

I'm going to give this a whirl while driving tomorrow. I'm curious to see how he's advanced his Plastikman sound over all these years. If his more recent live sets are any indication of what to expect, then it should be a good listen. |

felt the same... i was enjoying the first little intro bit then the synths came in and it threw me off. after listening for 15 more seconds i fast forwarded to every new song, just couldn't get into it.
was never a big richie fan anyway so this isn't a surprise. have yet to see him play a good dj set |

Just for the sake of clarity, though, I never really dug Richie Hawtin as Plastikman, and even less so as Richie Hawtin. But this conspiracy is never gonna get off the ground if we emphasize our differences, right? |

Ahaha :p Kalamak 7elo ya m3lem.. Bi kol Sara7a, ma fhemt 3alek. Keen sykonee? (No Arabic keyboard so it's Arabenglish for now).
The album's pretty good. I listened to it with the mindset of hearing it live. I think it would obviously pan out much better in a live context than listening to it at home. Either way, it was interesting to listen to. |
