| You can include so many other genres with it. u can mix prog trance, ambient, breaks, techno with it. no other genre can be diversified like progressive house. it is the best to mix. what do u think? |

It almost mixes itself, but I wouldn't call it the most versatile genre.
Techno would be my pick, it has a wide BPM range giving you more choices/directions to explore. |

| Depends on your definition of "best", I suppose. I find long harmonic transitions more satisfying when the tracks aren't carefully designed to make them as easy as possible. |

The diversification you can get looks rather better on paper then it actually is.
A lot of the time you either get some tracks that are cherry-picked from broad and vaguely defined genres that really don't differ much at all from the mix's main material, or they are tracks from other progressive producers who are attempting to produce in a different genre. You always get those distinct results that betray the creators real interests.
Progressive breakbeat music rarely has the same liveliness and spontaneity that defines proper breakbeat music for instance, because it just doesn't fit the character of a progressive mix. It becomes a different beast altogether.
Ambient is a similar story. If it's made by a techno producer it tends to come out as cold, fillerish and droney interlude material. If it's made by a trance producer it can come out as overly bombastic melodics with no subtlety, literally like a trance track with the beats cut out.
It's a recurring pattern. |
