yer too much house, but at least they're playin a lil tech, not too many other stations round that play good stuff. what happeend to all the community radio stations?
Euphorica@AUS
HEHEHEHEH at the commmunity stations. remember KIX FM and PULSE FM man they owned hardcore with ARTI K and his other partner in crime.

Yeah Nova are hardly great, but they're doing better than a lot of other stations. And at least they're prepared to set trends instead of following them.

I was listening last night at work for instance and they played Cafe Del Mar and the AVB mix of Janeiro back to back - how many time has Fox FM done that? I do get sick of hearing Scooter, that Kelly Osbourne song and that Nelly and Kelly song, but the late night mix-ups are usually the only things even worth considering listening to on Melbourne radio.

And remember, they're a commerical station, not an underground station, so you can hardly blame them for some of the crap they play sometimes. If you're gonna lobby Nova to play more underground trance music then you may as well call up Fox and get them to play more Slipknot and then Magic 693 to ask for an Ice Cube hour - it ain't gonna happen cos it ain't what they're there for. :D

Hmmm I dunno Renegade.....An "Ice-Cube" Hour Would Be Pretty Cool....

*rings up magic 693*

Most of them simply ran out of time, the ABA (australian broadcasting association) kept on giving them hope by saying.. "oh yeah maybe in a couple of months we'll give one of the temp. stations a full time license" and did this for years "Kiss FM" had been around for like 7 years....and was playing good good e, they had guest dj's on a lot and played live sets, and every friday and saturday night they broadcasted from clubs or events, I remember hearing Hennes & Cold - The Second Trip when I was at a party and I put on THE RADIO and it was kiss from "Every Picture Tells A Story". How often at a party would you turn the radio on??? Also they broadcasted Oakenfold in 2000 from the sheds, basically a better effort than all the commercial stations stuck together....

But alas, when the ABA were finalllllllly going to give out 2 FM and 1 AM license......Nova comes along AND ING BUYS IT, and our local boys who had been struggling and (1 of the criteria for full license application) gaining the support of listeners IE. prooving that people liked them! but nope Nova and their DIRTY money got it instead..... :whip:

ok, their money ain't dirty but I'm angry lol ;)

all done here ;)

RIGHT ON HYBRID

All those community stations put an effort, always on SAT nights they would play from a live event, nova never did a test broadcast or anything in melb, hitz etc were trying their luck for 8-10 years and nova just jumped ahead with 100 million, oh well i guess ill live

On RRR (102.7fm) and PBS (106.7fm) they have good music late on fridays i think. ie last friday night on RRR they had some awesome psy trance!! i was lovin it. Also there is the JJJ mixup on saturday nights but i think lately that has been mostly some form of house and/or breaks but there was 2 hours of trance on recently.

man, PULSE fm was soooo GOOD!!! but in brissie they used to switch stations every so often, same case coz they had no license, and it was a community thing but wat was good about it was that the stations it switched to were MIX FM and some other good trance/techno station, but then some gay RIVER FM buys the license and now... all i'm stuck with is bloody pop and alternative stations

we also get umm RHYTHM FM in brissie, radio station based in sydney, but i think itz mainly chill out genre and plus the reception is REALLY REALLY BAD, most u can hear is a bit of bass and major screech

*sigh compared to brissie, u guyz got it good
PulsatE
yeah pulse fm was the kootz, i really thought one of those community radio stations were gonna get a fulltime licence and there'd be a real dance/tek/r&b radio station. pity nova came along and stole it
InAcoma
correct me if im worng
but i was under the impression that nova wasnt even going for the community license...
2 other stations got rewarded full time license's
wasnt one a gay radio station and the other an aboriginal station...
discitelli
you know what i do everytime i hear the logical song on radio? i make a quick dash to the cd collection with all of my favourite sets and tunes, and presto, no more ty radio.:D

Euphorica@AUS
All good in theory but when ure at work for 8 hour shifts and all u got is an am/fm station and u cant brign a discman or anything cause its at a service station, then ure stuck with the radio. Note, out all the community radio stations PULSE FM was by far the best out of all of them, killer tunes at a killer time of the day.

Know the feeling mate. :-/

I only work 6 hours shifts at my servo, but it's still not unusual for me to hear the same song on Nova 3 times during that period. They reckon they "sound different" but they seriously need a bigger playlist. Hearing Scooter 10+ times a week (considering I don't listen to the radio outside of work) just don't do it for me.

How the has that song been number 1 for like 3 weeks? :conf:
