I've always wondered why producers tend to emphasize certain elements one one side of the stereo field more than the other. Vocals and percussion often gravitate towards the right side, while melodies and pads gravitate towards the left. This piece explains it pretty well. It also explains why you find common personality types on one side of a venue as opposed to the other (to a certain extent).. which depends on the layout of the venue of course.
Great read. I'd highly recommend it to anyone interested in how music is processed by the right and left hemispheres of the brain. If you guys have any similar articles or documentaries, please do post them :)
