So... here is an article / video I made that walks through a technique I have for compositions and songwriting in ableton live. Stoked to finally share this one.

thats a great idea, havent thought of that. i usually write my songs with no real solid layout in mind.

Yeah I generally write the beat and main part of the track. Then about 1/2 way through I start looking at my composition this way. Really makes for better tracks that have more movement and structure I feel.

Glad to share it mate!

Very interesting idea.
I already use reference tracks when producing but this method seems to be more useful for getting a general arrangement down without getting distracted by the specific sound of other tracks.
Certainly gonna try this out.

If you just right click on the top of the arrangement and add a marker, you can rename it to whatever and it will have a small play button that you can press to start playing from that part. No need for the blank midi clips unless you want to color code the sections but then you don't get the little play buttons, unless you do both ways.

Yes, you can do this in FL too by selecting an area and then clicking Alt+T.

You can't drag those markers into another project or mark multiple possible arrangements in one project. Which was kind of the point of this midi clip system, along with color coding.
