Hey guys,
Could you give me some feedback on the psytrance track i made ?
I have some problems with the second bassline, it just sounds not strong enough and is sometimes barely to hear.
Moreover, i have a general problem with everything i make, it sounds different on the different systems.
I use for everything my headphones, because i don't have monitor speakers, and so it only sounds right on the headphones. With normal speakers or in the car it's completely different.
I appreciate any help :)

| You have kind of already answered your question. Mixing a track should be done with best and most honest speakers available. That way you can hear every tone and even the small differences. Mastering means that a track is compressed and equalized so that it sounds as same as possible with different speakers and headphones. So if you are mixing with headphones, it's impossible to make it sound the same with speakers. |

Hey,
Looks like you going for Dark Prog there. Kick and offbeat bass sound fine, seems to have quite a decent vibe.
Perhaps its a little middy and dull, sounds like your headphones are probably too bright hence the lack of brightness in the mix.
I like the vocals, they add a nice creepy atmosphere and some nice sound effects used although some of them do sound a bit random and out of place but thats just me.
Yeah your second bassline is pretty non existent, try using saturation on it, something like Fabfilter Saturn and of-course make sure the patch you made has proper envelope settings to make it punch out and EQ and Compression will help also.
Anyhoo not a bad track keep going mate.

Hey guys, first of all thank you very much for your feedback.
I already feared, that in short or longterm, i need proper speakers. But at the moment i don't have enough money for them i think :(
Are there any speakers, that can be recommended (not too expensive) ?
@soundmagus:
Dark Prog is the direction i wanna go, not to fast, just deep dark sound.
I'm also quite satisfied with the offbeat bassline. But i always have my problems with kbbkbb and kbbbkbbb. It sounds too big or like in this case, it almost doesn't sound at all.
The placement of the sounds is not always right, track is also still under development.
Moreover i think that there might be some room for more soundeffects, which should give the track a little big more dynamic.
But my main problem is still the bassline, so i just stick to your advices and try to make my second bassline better :)
So again, thank you very much and if there are any more tipps or feedback, feel free to comment

The speakers should fall in the category of near-field studio monitors. Active ones are more practical. I use Behringer Truth 2030A, which are okay, but i do my mixing and mastering elsewhere with better speakers. Genelec and Adam are good brands that have monitors in various price ranges.
edit: Best club mix is achieved by mixing in the club with 1000000w subs :) |
