I've never personally met anyone who was actually prescribed Desoxyn (pharmaceutical methamphetamine). Every ADHD/ADD person I've ever met either gets methylphenidate (Ritalin), or some sort of amphetamine-based drug (Adderall, Vyvanse, Dexedrine). The ADHD epidemic has been manifested by doctors and the pharm industry, sure, but there is a huge difference between meth and amphetamine... |

Methylphenidate and ethylphenidate are damn near the same thing, one is legal one is prescription only. Funny thing is methylphenidate with alcohol turns into ethylphenidate.
All the said substances you listed have the same effects when taken in amounts that cause them ie, faster heart rate, mild euforia, insomnia, increased attention, chattyness, jitteriness, increased sex drive ect.
It's kind of like benzos that have diff names but same effects as well as opiates which have diff names, analogs ect but same effects
Thanks pharmacology schooling that went for nothing!!! |

Your basic premise is correct. All those drugs are stimulants, and yes, amphetamine is in the same broad family as methamphetamine. But the methylated version (i.e. "meth) is far more potent than amphetamine. Just google some research studies done. And, meth is neurotoxic even in prescribed doses. Adderall and the like is not neurotoxic in those doses. And meth lasts for a much longer period of time and leads to psychotic breakdowns much more often than amphetamine does.
Finally, there ARE people that do have ADHD. I personally believe I have a mild form of it, but I don't have a script. No biggie. Amphetamine based drugs are the best thing for those people, provided they are being used as prescribed and not abused. Of course abuse will happen, it is a double-edged sword afterall.
And I'd like to see some anecdotal and/or empirical evidence of American docs prescribing Desoxyn for ADHD patients. As far as I know, it's (very rarely) prescribed for obese patients trying to lose weight when nothing else works. I'm sure some crazy gets prescribed overseas, but that's another story for another thread. Lol.
P.s. I know from personal experience that benzos are so wildly different. You can't tell me that clonazepam (Klonipin) is anything like Xanax other than it makes you less anxious. Clonazepam can be taken during the day and you can be totally 100% functional. Xanax...ehh not so much. They're both benzos, and both produce some of the same effects, but the intensities are so different that the experience of the drugs are incomparable. |

I just think its hilarious how doctors can prescribe something and its ok, but if sowevody used a diff form of the same basic drug its illegal |
