Very cool mini feature about compression in today's music

I think its less of an issue of compression and more of an issue with listening devices these days. Laptop speakers, crappy earbuds, Beats, etc.
Gone for the most part are the days of <= 128kbps mp3 files being common. Everyone is on 256kbps+... I personally can't tell any difference between 320kbps/high quality VBR and FLAC/WAV for the vast majority of tracks... That's with a low SNR sound card and mid range Sennheiser PC 360 headphones. Maybe you need thousands of dollars of preamps and headphones to tell the difference, its just not worth it to me personally as it already sounds fantastic to me vs some ty earbuds or beats. |

But then again...what type of music are you listening to? If it's mainly electronic..yea, it sounds pretty decent. But if it's using analog instruments, today's music sounds like . |

Mainly electronic/ambient stuff with a proper mastering and isn't being choked to death for every last dB. I don't really listen to any sort of "band" music with physical instruments (drums, guitar, bass, etc) if that's what you mean by analog? Alot of the instruments in the music I listen do have analog synths used, pretty much all of the Berlin School for example. |

why is Aoki in this? I thought it was a documentary about music
"compression removes up to 90% of the original song"
is this complete bull or what, I'm ready to stop watching 2 minutes in |

this is so ing stupid they talk about mp3s which is data compression then show an animation demonstrating audio level compression, two entirely different things
320kbps mp3s sound quite good, not the real issue. It's overuse of dynamic range compression and every element "being the loudest thing in the mix" that is the real problem
skip this it's trash, and really citing an aoki and linkin park collab as an example of integrity invalidates the entire thing right off the bat |

| This is a retarded bunch of bull. It's sly marketing for the harman technology. |
