Bull. Absolute, bull. I am so ing tired of playing a set live or just ing around... and playing like 4 MIKE(push, airwave velvet girl) tracks. Its bull. Or playing 3 Armin van buuren rmx's or so. I think, we need some more producers in this genre of music(style) making some tunes. I dont want to play eon - pocket damage, gouryella - ligaya and east vs west - love i lost, its just gay :[

There out there.. Airwave, M.I.K.E., Armin, arent the only producers out there that produce good material. There are tons of others. Have an open mind and look for them.

u got a good point...the reason guys like Sasha, PvD, Oakenfold make it to the top is because they take the time to go to stores and dig to the bottom of the basket to find new records NO ONE is playin...i hate lookin at some of my tracklistins and seein 3 or 4 songs by one producer in a 75min set...u just gotta open up and find records u havent heard even by producers u havent heard...iono...
thas my 2 cents |

I totally agree with you. I listen to Tiesto's sets and every other song is by him (or an alias of him, or was remixed by him.) Quite annoying, but it seems to make sense... a DJ would know his/her own music the best and would know the perfect time to mix it in, but still, we need some variety in these sets. With so many aliases out there and so few producers, it's hard to make it through a few hours without playing stuff by the same DJ.
People are making tunes... but you have to be a millionaire to market your stuff (unless you want to sell it to a record company, give away your copyright and probably end up selling about 4 copies). As well, you have to invest a lot of money if you want to buy synthesizers, drum machines, etc. There are a lot of producers out there, but it's really hard for them to market their stuff. I produce music and do remixes myself using my comp and a variety of programs and other stuff... and it's decent stuff, many of my friends say its as good as some of the stuff out there. The problem is getting it out there - I haven't been able to get it out on vinyl or CD or anything like that, and if I did I would probably sell about two copies considering how popular trance is around where I am (not very popular at all.) There are websites like MP3.com where you can upload your music, but still, it's very hard to get people to download it, and I have had no luck uploading my songs. It would be nice if TranceAddict had a site where we could upload our work for free - it's so hard to find space on the internet to do so. If you do go on MP3.com you can sometimes find good tracks, but a lot of it is amateur garbage. To me it seems like trance is going to die if we don't start hearing some new sounds... and that would definitely suck. :( :( :( |

I know that, i am just trying to make a point! I play alot of bull tunes that no one else plays. But living in this here country(The us) i can play tunes that they play and still feel fine about it. I try to keep up with music.. i do.

Please.....
Dance music has gotten to be such a large industry that there are more than enough dance records being released, not even including those which may never be released on some dudes hard drive or sequencer, that if you look hard enough; you will always find a bevy of records which suit your tastes coming out every week. Likely more than enough to suit even the most rabid vinylphile (if that's a word). |

There is a lot of stuff out there, just it never gets played. There are a lot of guys making this stuff but the vast majority of them receive no recognition, no playtime, and few record sales. Big name DJs like Tiesto and Paul Van Dyk play tracks by big name artists - thats one of the reasons they are so popular. It's true that there is so much new trance out there that it is impossible to keep up... but neither can the big DJs. They keep on playing the same old stuff time and time again because it pleases the crowd. Download a few of Tiesto's sets and count how many times you hear Silence or Suburban Train - it's crazy but it pleases the crowd (no offense to Tiesto, I think he's an awesome DJ.)
It's funny how whenever we listen to a liveset, we try to identify every single track (anytime a thread goes up about a liveset the track IDs start pouring in as soon as the songs come on.) Usually, every track (or the vast majority of the tracks) are identified. For once, I'd like to hear a set where every single track was by some nobody working off a comp and a few synths in his basement and nobody had ever heard them before. The problem is, that is never going to happen. Trance is becoming more and more commercial as it increases in popularity... by "keeping up" with trance you are only "keeping up" with the 0.01% of songs that have made their way to the top, if that. Even if you listened to trance 24/7 you would not even come close to hearing all of the new stuff that is put out by lamers like me ;) . Big names, commercialization... it seems like the inevitable future for trance, and the big DJs aren't doing much to stop it. |

Yeah well those choonz aren't really all that great and are way overplayed... some of the best stuff out there is stuff you'll never get to hear. |

Buy different records :)
But to be serious... I agree there are lots of less known producers around that put out quality material.. You just have to look carefully enough. |
