Reaktor CORE

Just curious, how many people here use Reaktor CORE and how often? Ive been learning the ins and outs of Reaktor Primary for a few weeks but was unhappy with the high CPU usage and inflexibility in some areas of primary so I delved into Core.

Seems like it is the easiest way to learn the basics of DSP programming as it gives you all the building blocks to create practically anything.

Now I wish I had paid more attention in trigonometry :(

Here is a basic example of using Reaktor Core memory cells to create a simple panning/decaying delay:

Yeah If you're prepared to spend the time learning to build with core, it's definitely rewarding and you can easily get around the shortcomings of ensembles or make you're own solutions. It's not for the faint of heart though and you need to be prepared to get majorly pissed off debugging circuits and , much like any sort of programming language I guess. The visual environment certainly makes it much easier to grasp for a musician, or someone with very little to no experience dealing with text based programming languages. I kinda feel Max/msp makes the message ordering and debugging less confusing than reaktor, making it faster solution for patch building. Both great systems though each having their own distinct advantages and shortcomings.

Yeah since I have a programming background already the circuit debugging was not particularly frustrating besides in a couple ways:

1. Connecting constants to certain fields only triggered events once
2. Behavior of various modules for int and float types. Sometimes there seemed to be silent failures because the wrong type of data was received or things got accidentally disconnected.

Im actually writing my own modular DSP engine in C++ now that differs in Reaktor CORE in some ways, multicore support being the main one but I still see Reaktor CORE as extremely useful for rapid prototyping of low level DSP code and connecting it to a functioning plugin with a UI.
