Heya guys...
I just messed around with the Ultrasone HFI-650 headphones... and I think I figured a few things out...
From what I can tell, the ony type of headphone that can *really* do that "one eared monitoring with the headband behind your neck and one earcup on your shoulder" is probably types that have the "flip outward" style of headband, like the MDR-V700DJ and maybe (I haven't had a chance to examine these close up) the Technics RP-DJ1200, IXOS DJ1001, or Sennheiser HD25. From what I can tell, a lot of the "Audiophile" type of headphones that i talk about (V6, HD280, HFI-650, etc.) don't have that flip outward thing going on... this got me thinking... exactly HOW much swervability and adjustability does one need? Even if a headphone can lay flat (like the 280's or HFI-650's), if it doesn't have that flip-outward mechanism, one can't do that special one-eared monitoring trick... so why not get something like the Beyerdynamic DT250-80, which should be way more comfortable, but not fold? Seriously, I have been thinking that those may well be the ultimate DJ headphone; I found the HFI-650's (and thereby, the HD280 Pro) uncomfy... and if that folding doesn't matter, why not just go for the highest sound quality/most comfy headphones out there, the DT250-80's? So they don't fold at all... so?
Is there ANY good DJ headphone that can be worn one-eared like the V700DJ? Anyone know at all?
BTW, here's a mod for the HFI-650 and HD280 Pro for comfort...
