At ing last.
There's little information on what 9 will actually have, but some good news already confirmed is the return of the start menu and that it will not force desktop and laptop users to attempt to use it's incredibly annoying surface based GUI like W8 did.
I doubt there will be any major developments in terms of audio but maybe we'll get some kind of class compliance update that might finally be worth the disk space it takes up? |

I use Windows 8 with a free app called Classic Shell (http://www.classicshell.net/) which restores the start menu and a few other things making it much more like Windows 7/XP. With that extension, Win 8 works great. It's much more stable and faster than Windows 7. |

I use windows 8.1 out of the box without any problems, actually imo the most efficient OS this far, reinstall takes less than 30 mins from start to have all my applications ready and files copied back from external disc. really ing good imo. actually i dont miss the stupid start button at all either. ive never been as productive as now. in windows 7 i always used hours deleting all the stupid shortcuts in the startmenu. |
I don't use the start menu much either, but it was annoying to not have it there for shutdown, accessing run, search... basic OS functions that should be immediately available. |

I think I am the only person that actually likes the win8 start menu. When I first saw it, I thought I would hate it and I was telling everyone win8 was ass, but, I bought it anyways for stability reasons, and as it turns out, the start menu grew on me and I actually like it better. You can use the scroll to go through it and windows key to open it and I get where I need fast. For me its the most stable os I've used, never had issues, runs perfect. |

When I was running Windows 7 I would get blue screens at least once per week, probably more even after a complete format / reinstall. With windows 8, under the exact same hardware, I get a blue screen once per month at most, and most of the time it's the graphics drivers. |

What i don't like about 8.1 is that you right click on the bottom left corner for control panel which is annoying and for me it won't go straight to the desktop. The thing i like about it is that I optimized it to feel more like a mac from an audio optimze tutorial. |

It won't boot straight to it, but all you have to do is hit the windows key. |
