Before I start, WTF was up with all those people holding up sticks with some random signs? When did that become a trend? I had never seen it before. Some were cool, but some were just WTF? I read one that said "LICK HER IN THE ." :haha:
Anyhow....
Had an awesome time last night. Got there at 7:15pm, the traffic was backed up very bad on the freeway, but I'm no rookie, so I knew my way, went around and parked literally across the street from the main entrance avoiding all traffic. Ha! SCORE!
Once there, and judging by the traffic and the fact that I had Will Call tickets, I thought it was going to be a nightmare getting in. Little did I know, there was no line for Will Call, and getting in was 5 min tops! SMOOTH!
Once inside, we snapped a few pix on the lake and went straight to Digweed! Literally, it took us about 30 min from getting off the freeway at 7:15pm to being literally against the barriers right in front of Digweed by 7:45pm!
DIGWEED - Main Stage
What can I say? Digweed is THE MAN! I love his festival sets as they are much harder than usual. He had me dancing the whole time. Sadly, Digweed didn't fill the main stage. There was TONS of room to dance, which was very welcomed! You can tell Digweed was having fun as he had a very happy face and kept snapping pix of the crowd. From where we were, Digweed definitely had an older & mature crowd. Most of the younger crowd was on the rammed packed stage next to the main one.
TALE OS US - Enter Stage
Never seen them before, and they were good. Very, very dark. But not my favorite of the night. I ran into a few TA's in here.
LAIDBACK LUKE - 2nd Stage
A long time ago, I was a huge fan of Luke, but last night, I was cringing to some of his music. :( Laidback Luke is to my wife, what Digweed is to me. So we compromised and watched 1 hour of Luke and 30 min of Hawtin. Luke had that stage completely filled and the crowd was loving every min of it, but he's just not my style anymore. He literally played a load of Top 40 tracks mashed up into "EDM." Once Luke began playing Dubstep that was my cue to GTFO! hahaha I'll give him one thing though, he had a lot of girls there. I felt very old compared to the rest.
RICHIE HAWTIN - Enter
Not much to say about Hawtin. He was good, but the beats were kind of monotonous.
LOCO DICE - Enter
Holy !!!! He was REALLY REALLY GOOD!!!! Personally I liked him more than Digweed and that's a tough thing for me to say. Even my girl liked him and she usually doesn't like my music. HARD banging techno! It brought me back old school Mauro Picotto memories. Non-stop dancing from me.
STEVE ANGELLO - Main Stage
Another one of my girl's DJ's. To me he was blah and was everything I expected. A high-energy show complemented with non-stop confetti canons, CO2, lights, the whole works. His stage was so packed, we didn't even want to try getting in. Instead, we stood outside the tent, right next to main stage.
GIRL IN NEED OF MEDICAL ATTENTION
During Angello's set, I saw a girl in need of Medical attention. I saw a staffer call for help on the radio and it took 30 min for help to arrive. WTF!!! That's a long time, especially when the First Aid station was literally within walking distance. Here's a tip for Insomniac, mark the entrances to make them easily identifiable. The EMT's were lost trying to find the girl. I had to grab them and point them to where she was. Also, give you staff something that can fit on a pocket and can raise it to be easily spotted in case of an emergency. Something like an expandable baton with a flag on top or something. That could make a life saving difference when EMT's are looking for them.
ARMIN VAN BUUREN - Main Stage
WTF happened to Armin? He sounded very EDMish with some trance notes to it. People were digging him, but as far as crowd energy goes, Steve Angello took the crown. I didn't like what I heard from Armin so we left to check out Luciano.
LUCIANO - Enter
Oh boy! He was on fire!!!! Banging house all the way! Non-stop dancing and he had the most people at the Enter stage than anyone else. He was so much fun, my body was killing me from dancing all night. We only stayed until around 1:30 so we could beat traffic as I had an hour drive home and didn't wanna fall asleep driving.
PARKING & TRAFFIC GOING OUT
So much for en leaving early to beat traffic. WTF? Some idiots decided to block the isles so some of us couldn't leave. The only way out was knocking down a tree. :haha::haha::haha: The guys in the car next to us had a saw, took it out and started sawing the tree off! :haha::haha::haha: That was funny. Luckily, the guy that parked behind me showed up right away, so I was able to get out. But the other guy still had to saw off the tree to get his car out. :eyespop::eyespop: Oh yeah, no traffic going out either. If the guy wouldn't had showed up, I probably would've been stuck there a long time.
OVERALL - From my experience...
From my experience, this had to be one of the smoothest festivals I have ever attended. Everything from the parking right in front of the venue, to getting in, to how chill the crowd was. Smooth! Also, vendors had their lines moving up quickly. We bought fruit, juices, and hot dogs and everything was hassle free and quick. My two grips were that there were no running water stations outside the toilets. The ones that were there were pretty much depleted. Insomniac needs some crowd control there for sure. It was a mess trying to use the ter. My other grip, obviously, it was how long it took the EMT's to get to the poor girl. That was no bueno.
Insomniac, you get a 10!!!! Thanks for the fun times.

^ good review.
I'm a little hungover here but will do my best to type;lkjfgda.
As soon as we arrived, we headed directly for the main stage to see John Digweed. As usual, he was rockin it. One of my favorites djs ever. We didn't stay too long as we didn't have a lot of room nor did we care for the crowd too much.
This led us to the Enter Stage where we pretty much stayed at the entire night. It was never really packed in there which made it nice and comfortable for everybody. Plus, thats where we got to see all of our friends at too. My favorite of the night was Luciano. That man was a ing beast last night. I didn't know how he was going to close out after a great set by Loco but he totally surpassed it. Luciano... definitely my top DJ right now (after Sasha and Digweed though). |

my review.
no line to get in, easy freaking breezy.
essentially stayed in the enter stage area...the music in the other areas were terrible...but seems like everyone was having fun.
richie hawtin - was on point..techno at its finest.
loco dice - FAWKING KILLED IT. straight up banging techno for your mama. seriously, one of best sets i have heard in a long long time.
luciano - bangin it out with some housey flare. great way to end the night.
overall, the event was very very well organized. no gripes whatsoever...except i dont understand why the vip areas didnt have beer. lol.
a+

Armin has gone to . Pretty much every trancehead I know has given up on him which is why you didn't see us there. |

Friday night
Got there early around 5pm and didn't deal with traffic, or lines at the gates - super smooth. Free parking was a plus. The stages were layed out nicely and some sound bled onto other stages at times but not a real big issue. The rain felt good!
I was at the trance stage for the most of Friday night and it was banging 138+ trance all night except for Andrew Rayel. The stage was not really packed and was mostly made of an older mature crowd and I loved it.
My favorites: Simon Patterson & Bryan Kearney.
Saturday night
Got there around 7pm and parked at some nearby baseball field and was some walking distance away from venue.
I had way more fun for some reason on Saturday night even though it was more crowded than Friday. I was mostly at the techno stage, some main stage and Laidback Luke stage.
Favorite performance : Tale of Us - first time I got to see them perform and was not dissapointed!! Can't wait to see them at BPM festival. Lot's of burners in that stage too.
Caught some Steve Angello and I really like his new sound (it's not all big room) and has added more groovy songs in there.Friday night: |

Weird.
People were complaining that he was playing to much "future house" which are "risks" compared to the bigger stuff. Future house is the direction he has been going the last few months.
He even addressed it:
