Hello,

Did anybody try tools like the "Photosounder" where you hear what's dissplayed in any image (you push through it)

thanks,

V

Yes, recently been doing quite a bit of data sonification and stuff. Working on a current project building patches based on photos taken of graffiti in public places. Have you used Virtual ANS?

Hello, (sorry didn't see your ID)

Well that is an interesting reply.

If you are aware at the start of this topic, Cryo mentions that an effect tool also has very very good graphical interaction to draw patterns. That kind of made sense
to me.

There are a few tools like photosounder and some
amazing soft synths like the seed effect synth. What
is it called?

Synplant....by Sonic Charge. In terms of effects it's a bit
removed from this thread...but it's effect is to create organic involved sound patches that evolve over envelopes...

yes.

Thankyou for your link also. (the stuff mentioned above
is a google)

Vince.

yes i did try ANS on win32. It worked , and i only spent
brief time opening images on it....if i remember, once you had opened an image, the tool would then allow manipulations of that resulting sound.

yes. As a pose to just putting in a new different image. It has basic controls but seemed to work at a base level.

It is in my gmail kept. The tool file.

I mean now on Android and iOS there are composition tools that are bewildering in difference and simplicity
combined with amazing sound quality....

BioPhilia is somewhat educational by Bjork....12 tools but caught my interest a while back. All tools are completely graphical.
Then oceans of other's especially in iOS market...even free.

Tools that just make music for you....like "winter season" or something on droid. It's by the guy that makes synths Sunvox synth. What about the "reactable" synth also.

well sorry to bang on.

yes i did try Ans

Hey Vince, that's right regarding ANS, you can't really overlay images inside the program, I'd suggest a decent graphics/photo editing application for these kinds of tasks before importing.

I've generally found the editing tools useful, since images once converted to spectrograms tend to be very dense sonically and need editing to tame certain frequency bands and resonances depending on the image. If you're on a mac, check out Metasynth, it's probably the most ideal application for this kind of work unless you spend a boatload of cash on a Kyma system or something.

You're right though, there are a lot of great tools available now for audio editing and manipulation, making the process easy and enjoyable, but one needs to be careful not to fall into the habit of relying on the tropes that these tools also tend to create as well. I know a couple of developers currently working on some new apps supporting and making the Leap Motion device more practical and usable, the current available apps besides Hollyshock Usine are pretty patchy.
The Reactable IOS app didn't really do much for me, but I'm really intrigued by the actual Reactable. I wouldn't buy one, but would love to play around with one of those.

I'm a fan of the Sonic Charge plugs, and Synplant in particular for exploring and making experimental synth timbres, but permut8 is also fun as an effect. I've had many happy accidents with these, though I wouldn't recommend them for trying to achieve specified results.

Thanks for the heads up on the Biophillia app, had no idea about that. I'll have to bust out my sons ipad to check it out, looks pretty interesting. I like this idea of these interactive sonic environments.

Cheers - G. :)

Hey There.

Thanks for the reply and your generalizations are pleasant to read while remaining realistic. Yes, i believe those graphical ideas of yours are spot on. Photoshop is just like a million swiss army knives on images at the same time...and then roll it over into "sound" on a nice stacked-up PC ghz.....and creative heaven awaits (ha)

Isn't it interesting how you would even know of "Synplant" since as far as it seems, there's oceans of stuff out there that nobody knows about.

THose kind of tools are powerful right (Syn). Taking beautiful examples even from the myriad of banks that come inside it, for example the Vangelis banks and Bladerunner. TM (Trade Mark)

Uh, that Biophilia, while educational, still stands some reckoning just as a creative tool indeed. (well ye) (took her Team 6 years to create it...can you believe 0__0 $2.20 freakin twenty on iOS or droid.

Uh, Thankyou for the other mentions on this topic. Brian Eno, has, ofcourse, a lot of input in this arena & Flood....and many other established producers....have been at it for Eons.

The motion controllers right, they are all over the Namm and things right? and should be a future great. I expect 3D printing will some how melt in there some-how.

Morphing of sounds is also very interesting and vocoding into organic
type flows. I mean it's all playing, and like you say, do something
concrete with a set of good choice tools. ( ye)

Right, thankyou again,

V
