LOL dangggg that bad??? It couldn't possibly have been worst than where I was but I suppose it's all subjective. I was dragged to this "rave" called "LED Presents Tramps Like Us" in San Diego by my coworker, who begged me to go about everyday for a month, where little girls dressed the part of a [Tramp] but acted like total TNUCs.
The music of course was all labeled "Progressive House/EDM" but to us dinosaurs, it's "Pop Hard Jump Dance put your hands up during multiple break downs while the MC hypes it up before the bass drops" with some faux 2009+ hip hop and maybe a Snoop Dogg song or two.
Moby was suppose to be my savior this weekend but it seems he fell into this fad as well. He played this disgusting remix of Adagio for Strings, which was pretty much almost like Tiesto's but relabeled by some guy named Blasterjaxx or something.
I don't know if I'm just a hater, but the scene now is just so very disappointing. It makes me sad. I wonder if the Disco heads from the 60s and 70s don't like our generation just the same.
Anyway, sorry to you and to everyone who had to experience that downer stage at Burning Man or anything else like it.
From now on I'm sticking to 21+ clubs.
Oh yeah, LOL again at Skrillex and Dip. It's a shame people didn't get to see Troxler. |

there was plenty of good music at burning man, for example, we had just come from watching desert dwellers maybe half an hour earlier and were just wandering around stages checking out the music. we walked maybe 1/10th of a mile away and checked out some awesome no-names playing music at a small stage and had a lot of fun.
the saddest part for diplo? most of our party was high on drugs and couldnt stand it. thats how you know your music is trash.
we were at the diplo stage because GRiZ was playing after, so we headed back once his set was done. |

according to Diplo that story is BS and there is no corroborating proof it happened. He said that song was the last song in their set at Robot Heart and played more being silly as it was the last song.
I tend to believe Diplo... |

| i completely agree that the article is bull, but diplo is still a ty DJ, from my own experience just last week seeing him. |

This just made me laugh out loud because my friend said the same thing about this crappy pizza we bought when he was stoned.
Anyway, did you catch Hernan B2B with Nick Warren? How was it?! |

I've heard a handful of bad apples do illegal drugs at this event, i didn't expect for one person to know all of the bad apples.
I saw them at XS last night and they kept you guessing, wide variety of genres. Plus all the beauties didn't hurt. |

Syd Gris' (a person I respect) take:
So it's back from BM and the annual newsfeed deluge of pics and commentary, playa based profile pic changes, dusty selfies and money crowd shots. (I'm sure I've been guilty of all of them at some point). What's kinda bugging me is how many links and stories are going around about if Diplo & Skrillex were booed off at Robot Heart. Like really? That's the biggest music story to be told from BM this year? Let me stand up and say NO, it isn't.
After 2 years and near misses of talking to Skrillex's team about playing at OT, we were excited to see it finally happen this year. The fact Diplo was in the mix with him was all the more exciting.
They bought their own tickets, asked for no special treatment and came out, and despite being scheduled back to back to play separately, played a 2+ hour awesome tag set as 'Jack U' of infectious excellent eclectic party music. People had an amazing time and I know the other sets they played with Roots Soceity, Dancetronauts and others were awesome. They were super friendly, down to earth and totally classy when they were at OT.
Let THAT be the dominant narrative of them coming to play BM. 2 music lovers who shared what they do well with thousands of other happy music lovers. The obsession with if they did or didn't get booed off (one website is offering money to anyone with a video of it) is to me cheap, gossipey and a bottom feeding waste of time. If Diplo did depart from Robot Heart's generally ultra deep ethos to challenge the norm, good on him. If people really booed cause their expectations were so threatened, they really need to loosen up.
Let's focus on the do-ers, the creators and gifting, not the drama. Thank you.

OK yeah, I shouldn't have jumped the gun on that article. Fake journalism does piss me off. Sorry for spreading it around like the herp. Thanks for sharing/clarifying Dave!
But it doesn't change the fact that I'm still a hater of both these [DJs]. |
