Man, I couldn't wait to get out, lol. As soon as I was done with high school, I was gone.

That's a very Australian thing though, culturally if you're at home over the age of 20 you're a 'bit weird' and that increases to 25 and you're considered 'socially broken'.
After 30 you're defiantly some kind of 'mutant weirdo' and have some kind of fundamental malfunction that makes you watch chinese cartoons all day and melt in the sunlight.

Well, least that's how it was when I was growing up, girls tended to hang around the nest for a few years longer than boys before we manage to chew through the rope.
The only exception are wogs from the mediterranean who basically never leave home, even when they do leave home end up back there every 2nd day or so.

And having friends over, and taking drugs, and DJing, and about a million other things. Not to mention all the life experience you miss out on because Mum and Dad look after all the adult problems.

Depends on your parents and their home tbh.

There's nothing wrong with a safety net, it's rather quite a privilege. But I think encouraging 'staying in the nest until you're married off' is actually a very corrosive attitude. We learn the most in life when we're forced to live outside of our comfort zones. How can you expect your child (or not-child) to be a responsible partner for someone else, capable of carving out new comfort zones for their life and family, if they've had most everything they want or need outright handed to them?

Granted, but if bringing a girl home is a problem I can't see most of these other things somehow being fine.

At the moment, I want my kid to live with me until he is 50, however, I'm sure I'll change my mind by the time he is 3 or so.

Why would taking girls home or playing loud music be a problem living at home? Just go to your beach place instead? If not your beach place, your mountain cabin, or wherever your family's second home is. That's what I did and it was fine.

It's not fun when you're already pointing it out, Nou.

He's a cutie, congrats again. Crazy you've birthed some spawn.
