Reason8 is out now. It looks lovely & nice. But I am not sure if it is really forth the money to upgrade? Anyone tried this new Reason8? What did you think about it?

I believe it doesn't have any new synths with it or no new sounds in the sound library? So the real improvement is the drag + drop feature?

I'm currently using v7 and the difference between v8 and v7 seems far too negligible and I'm struggling to justify the $129 upgrade price.

Maybe if Propellerheads sweetened the deal by throwing in a couple of their rather nice rack extensions like Parsec or PX7 then I'd maybe consider it.

I'm not buy ing it , but i tried clicking the buy link and it gives a 404 not found, lol

"They say the devil is in the details, and Reason 8 packs a slew of small improvements to the workflow. Double-click to add notes and double-click notes to delete them. Resize from both edges and duplicate notes with a quick command. Tracks are named after the patch you load. Plus many more… "

dude, you werent able to double click notes in or out? that is a huge workflow boost if you ask me..........i never liked reasons midi, it was a huge pain.

Got it for free since i bought essentials like 3 months ago, we'll see how it goes.

Yes, I think it has some very lovely improvements (I like so much of the idea of resize notes from both edges). But not sure if they are enough to buy the upgrade (I now have Reason7).

Oh wow, $130 for double click midi improvement. Something that had to be done as a free v0.01 increment ages ago. Utter ****s.

Agreed - this really was a v0.1 feature/bug fix, not a paid upgrade,

Holy - is PropellerHead f'ing joking? A paid upgrade that essentially includes some GUI enhancements/new browser, tube amp emulations, and double-click to add/remove notes?! :eyespop:

You know it's bad when MusicRadar says this:

So, is the upgrade worth it? In a nutshell, not quite.

That must be the first time in their history that they didn't end a product review singing "everything is awesome!"

I think the Props guys should take a line from Microsoft and make sure that the next version is called Reason 10.

The interface has improved and I'm running rewire logic. Workflow is def important and being able to see the midi editor, sequencer, mixer, racks all in one shot without the need of 2 screens is a huge plus for me.

I bought 8 on release day, and let me tell you something..

The last version i had was 2.5, so TO ME the improvements are all lumped into a 6 version span of awesome. They honestly aren't charging that much for a good product.

but seriously the workflow of the sequencer still kinda blows. But that's just how reason has come to be known as. I'm very excited to be routing CV and plowing the the mix chain of an SSL. I'll sequence handicapped for now.
