| Popups are annoying yes. But I dont mind them because this site and just about every other site i vist woudnt be there if popups didnt exist. I imagine maintaining this site isn't extremly expensive, but it still costs money and we cant expect swamper to just pay for it all, especially since so many of us use it. |

I don't hate the person who invented them, or the people who use them. Without them, a lot fewer things on the net would be free. They're not really that hard to deal with once you get used to it. I think it's a small price to pay for the fact that you're getting so many things online for absolutely no cost.
Of course, if you really hate popups, the same internet contains numerous ways you can ensure that you'll never see one again. |

The way I figure it I come here enough not only from my computer but from other that do not have a pop up stopper. As a result I no doubt add to the number of clicks swamper gets (Cause I do click em sometimes)
However I've moved tranceaddict into my "white" category. Pop-ups are now allowed for this site. I figure I have to support the greatest place on the net!

The only pop-ups that bug me are the ones that when you click them they bring another one up. Or the ones that ask you to 'Set this as your homepage?'
The rest of them i just close, most of the time without even looking at them.
If I visisted a site that I didnt like the pop-ups, then I wouldnt go there again.
IMO the oes on this site are OK. |

I have one advice for you - and others in the same situation: Drop IE and use Mozilla. The new versions let you set permissions on Javascript commands such as moving/resizing/raising/lowering the main window. You can also block unrequested windows entirely, but that is really not fair to Swamper. The rest of the options, however, frees you from ever having huge in your face windows popping up with no apparent way of closing them. |

well, i think popups suck, because they make my computer freeze for a minute or two.
eventually, someone will come up with a way to get around ad blocker... as someone will probably invent a new way to implement popups... |

Just today I was surfing the net at work (tranceaddict to be exact), and this ing pop up about home security pops up right in front of my supervisor. She then tells me "I thought I told you not to go on the internet, don't let me catch you again". :whip: |

...because I turned off the detector on the forums for now.
Besides, only a small % of people were blocking stuff so it's not worth the headache (right now) to put the detector in place over less than $1/day of lost revenue |
