Agreed. He's still going strong, consistent with the hits.

i think it's manditory they should have at least a few of their own songs in the mix...because if you dont ,,then you r just a dj....and theirs tons of them....who gets popular just playing other ppeoples songs.....what kind of musician is that......or were talking about Djs not musicians....woops

Well that's what makes a great DJ great, is their ability to take other people's music and somehow turn it into something uniquely and identifiability their own.

But then I thought, to be fair - most of the productions are his, so yeah I guess that makes it easy to put together a solid mix.

i've made mixes with all my own songs and all other peoples songs....and they suck equally.
Silky Johnson
I don't doubt that.

your ears decide whats good or bad, name artist or label doesn't matter IMO. missed gui boratto this year (had tickets but got too drunk somehow). i would still pay to see him live even if it were all his songs.

in terms of mixing he knows each one inside and out still don't think its cheating though

I know, I didn't go either and I regret it. I hope he comes back soon, because I am not missing him next time.

It's all in the eye of the beholder really, you can easily just play your own tunes and still up. Does it matter? For me it only matters at home, on a dancefloor or most cases where I don't know the tracklist at hand I wouldn't care.

To be honest, some of the punters nowadays goes to head a DJ and get angry if they don't hear all of the DJ's productions.

I think it's a bit different if you're hearing what you know is a "producer set". You go in expecting to hear the artist's own tracks and that is the appeal. I think these sets tend to be a bit more rehearsed, and I'd be more disappointed if a producer set was wonky than if it was a DJ pulling tracks out on the fly.
