Hi all, I'm Editor (and primary contributor) at www.TranceFixxed.co.uk
The site has been running for a while, but has grown during 2014 to the point that we now have 10x opportunities for content Vs actual man-power to research / publish / promote etc.
The site is UK focused, although it is about Trance and Progressive music in general. We currently publish a mixture of News articles, Opinion articles (from artists), Artist Interviews, Live Event news and reviews, Single / Album reviews (new and classics), Remix Competitions, General Competitions, Free (legal) MP3 downloads and are in discussion with a few photographers about them possibly working with us to cover local events etc.
We have a regular stream of promos, promoters, artist representatives, news sources etc providing possible content but are running out of hours in the day with which to make use of them.
We are always on the look out for people (of any writing ability) who would be interested in contributing to the site, but I think we have to accept that for the foreseeable future we're going to be understaffed.
We want TranceFixxed to be about Quality, but fully understand that you have to publish new content regularly enough to keep readers engaged.
Our 'TranceFixxed meets...' interview series has been well received, as have been the news and opinion articles focusing on the stories no-one else is reporting (eg. AudioJelly closing). These create noticeable spikes in interest, but generating sustainable growth in visitors has been a challenge.
At the time of writing, our FB page has 206 Likes and Twitter account 383 followers, so a good start but not enough of an audience to make a large difference.
I have a few questions which I would genuinely appreciate your honest feedback on:
- What do you think of the site as it is now ? (http://www.trancefixxed.co.uk)
- What type(s) of content do you think we should publish more of?
- What would make you want to Bookmark and return to the site ?
- Do you have any suggestions for how we could find / get in contact with Trance music lovers who would be interested in occasionally providing content?
- How much of our time do you think we should be spending on writing new content Vs promoting published content on social media etc ?
Thanks in advance for your comments :)
All the best, Tim |

You made this way too ing long and salesy mate.
But I appreciate start ups, so Ill fill you in on some advice..... *drum roll please* .....DO YOUR RESEARCH!!
You see how many threads are on here. Look through the threads, see the conversations we are engaging about. There are some very knowledgeable ppl that hang here, far wiser and have been in the game longer than myself.
Provide some value to this community in the form of contributing to discussions and interacting with people w/o the self promotion. Its not a quick fix compared to your attempted long ass spammy sales message, but the ROI of it all is worth it in the end. |

| I'd like to have a site for smaller, less commercial sounding producers. Something to get guys some exposure, yknow, the ones who don't base their music off of whatever is the trend as so many now do. I've stumbled on some great trance producers on soundcloud that sadly have virtually no plays but because they don't sound like they'd be on Armada or Anjunabeats or Toiletsounds, they get no exposure whatsoever. I'd really like to see a site dedicated to introducing people to the lesser known musicians out there. |

Approach someone like SYSTEM-J for writing, he used to have his own review blog which was a pure gold-mine and right on target for the TA kind of audience but doesn't seem to have updated it in a while (perhaps couldn't be bothered maintaining it). Having said that you seem to be focussing Max Graham, Tydi, Super 8 & Tab etc so I'm not sure he'd even be interested.
Secondly, and I don't mean any disrespect (I'm just being blunt). The look of the site is straight up cookie-cutter yawnsville, this is exactly what I'd expect a trance reviews site to look like and that is absolutely not a positive thing. The look overall smacks of 2004 era fare. The content is easy enough to access but I don't like looking at your website and like it or not, this is a contributor to visitor engagement. Working in web design has taught me that a credible and smart look will always drive higher engagement.
At the very least I'd reccomend you make over the site, look at themeforest or something similar for blog / magazine themes, and get some new branding material done (I understand that money will be an issue as with many passion-driven online ventures, but it helps to show that you're both serious and credible without having to bang on about it on an 'about us' style page)
- Approach credible reviewers from about the web (via forums if need be)
- Makeover the site
- Get new branding
Also the name Trance Fixxed is just horribly cliche and tacky. Check out any other serious musical journal of opinion and you'll notice that basically none use a genre / early 2k invented spelling in their name.
Again, sorry if it comes off as harsh, I really do want to see a reputable, respectable trance site to add to my regular rotation but the above points do influence people.
Best of luck with your venture :) |
