Nu-House Listener Freaked Out and Cried when hearing Old School EDM

A friend who was under the influence of ecstasy had self-proclaimed herself to be a raver and also claimed to be an EDM expert.... since 2012. She is 20 years old and her first "rave" was when she saw Steve Aoki and ever since then she felt like house music and ecstasy was the best thing ever created. The same girl would discuss and say that without house artists such as Deadmau5, Skrillex, Swedish House Mafia, Hardwell, and Steve Aoki are legends of EDM who pioneered the mass popularity of EDM in America. Almost every American now has grown tired of acting gangsta like the early 00's and thinking they were baddass by listening to Eminem or 50 cent. Those days are gone. Nowadays the average American has hopped from the hip hop bandwagon to the raving bandwagon scene, since nu-house emerged in 2011.

A friend of mine went on to tell me a story that he and this same girl with very uneducated opinions about EDM, they were both on ecstasy while in the car and my friend who I personally trained to listen to old school trance music, was getting really sick and tired of her newer and boring house music. My friend then proceeded to ask her if he could play his own tracks too, in which she agreed with consent expecting that she would be hearing something that her self-proclaimed intellectual mind could interpret and grasp.

My friend turned on the "Flesh (DJ Tiesto Mix)" by Jan Johnston and right in the beginning of the song, the girl started to sink into her car seat at the very first time she heard psychedelic melodies and a darker, more haunting vocals of Jan Johnston that she never heard before. She had a nervous and pale look on her face as if she experienced death. She started to think she was going to die, and started crying and begged for my friend to go back to something fluffy from the new electro house music scene. She said she never heard anything like that ever before, and it was scary. After much disappointment, my friend agreed and went back to her preferences, and told me about it a few days later.

Yeah, just wanted to share with you guys. It's sad to know that these new kids think we are listening to some sort of emo, death themed, horror focused, satanic worshipping EDM. She was just really narrow minded.

Another thread about Pluviose's superiority complex over all his peers. You don't exactly listen to Jeff Mills, you know.

:haha::haha:

This was ing hilarious.

On a relevant note, I find the older stuff to be more emotive, as I mentioned in another thread. So perhaps her purported feelings of doom and such resulted from hearing something so different than from what she's used to.

People nowadays are sheeps and think as sheeps, so anything out of the ordinary for them will cause such reactions. You can't expand people's horizon if they don't have the capacity for it..... it's not even that, let them be if that is what they like. I used to be soo against radio music and the clueless folks who thinks it's the be all and end all of music, but I realize that there can only be soo many shepherds to herd flocks of sheep. Yes, I still giggle inside but I try not to act as if I'm superior to them.

Your friend who played her the cd shouldn't have thrown in dark trance for that girl's first experience though, hahahaha..... that scarred her bad. Should of go with the Tiesto ISOS 3, it's a 'sheep' track listing, but it gives off good feel.

BTW, where is a pic of the girl? :gsmile:

Psychedelic melodies in "Flesh"? What the hell am I reading?
Dj Pluviose
Flesh has some psy sounds in it. Not really acid but it has some psy feel to it.
