Anybody here have this interface? I recently upgraded my MOTU 828 mkII to an 828 mk3 and I'm really not digging the interface, software, mic pres, headphone configurations, etc., so I'm going to return it and get something better. I had my mind set on the UA Apollo, but there are few things about it that bug me (preamps are shared with some of the line inputs, headphone outputs are a little weak for high-impedance headphones, etc.). The RME features, specs, and ins/outs look perfect overall for my needs, plus I really like the idea of the advanced remote, which would really work great for my studio setup and workflow. Anyway, just looking for feedback from some users.

I looked at that, but it's not quite what I need in terms of ins/outs, preamps, front-panel vs rear-panel configuration, etc. I also want a hybrid (FW/USB) solution so that I can use it with my laptops when necessary. Also, the MR816X is discontinued and I'm returning my MOTU for credit, so I'm limited to what's currently available.

On paper, the UFX is perfect for my needs and the option for the Advanced Remote would work well with my studio and workflow. The Apollo is near-perfect (and a little cheaper), but I'm not too keen on paying that much for extra things like the UAD plugins that I don't really need, and I've read in a few places that the Apollos headphone amps aren't the greatest (an important consideration for me). My mind is pretty much made up, but I just want to see if there are any red flags from experienced users before I pull the trigger on the UFX.

Are they discontinued in the US? :conf:

I can see them listed on the Steinberg site for sale and in all the major retailers here,

Not that it matters as you've ruled it out anyway.

Anecdotally I've heard nothing but good about the UFX

I assume it's discontinued. MF, Sweetwater, zzounds, etc. all say it's "no longer available" (not out of stock). I was surprised, since it also seemed to get nothing but praise.
