Are people in the electronica music stingy with their music? Like say, someone heard a song and liked the track but doesn't know the title, but you do....... and instead of letting that person know, you keep it hush hush?
Come on now, I know some of you dj's are sheisty with yo' ! :D |

| Only when it comes to unreleased material. |

| I love to share, I don't see the point of not doing so and I think not sharing the music hurts the artist more than anyone else. |

| I like to keep a few secret weapons back. If a track is hot and I discovered it myself after hours of searching on Beatport, I want you to hear it in my mix first. But as a DJ I always post full tracklists including label info if I upload something. |

Well, I'll admit...... I probably won't share! :stongue:
If someone asked me about a track I know, I'd probably pretend and play along as if I got no clue but deep down inside I'm doing the sinister laugh "Muahahahaha"! :tongue2 |

It's not stingy, it's strategy. Everyone's a DJ now, everyone now has access to the same overwhelming abundance of content, and it's the diligence and commitment involved in mining the best of it that's going to distinguish you from the top 100 herd- the last thing you want to do is compromise that edge by doing other people's homework for them.
It's for this same reason that I'm sometimes hesitant to post a monthly chart. I'm not saying my tunes are/would be necessarily sought after or even all that hard to find, but they're all the results of days/weeks/months of sore-eyed searching (through tons crap), and that's an investment worth protecting by being hush hush about a few gems. |

| Not a Dj, but Ive always reconciled with the notion that tracklists should be made available but not immediately. In order to maintain that competitive advantage, dont be too quick to release a track list. Wait a little bit, but eventually it should be released for the sake of the ans |

Doesn't work for me here. Even if I give them my tracks they wouldn't understand anything about the EDM we listen to here.
As a matter of fact they would take for granted if I sent them only 1 track. Maybe it would be different if I gave them that new euro dance electro stuff, but that isn't me. |
