Ishkur says: The House music crap you hear nowadays exists because of Trance. True?

I remember creating a thread a short while ago and I had Ishkur come in and say something to me that actually sorta rings some truth.
He was saying the reason why you hear all that electro house stuff, trouse stuff, trap stuff, steve aoki, hardwell, avicii type stuff is because of trance itself.
What are your thoughts about it?
My personal opinion on it is that it is true. The newer "DJs" (or refurbished old DJs) basically took the formula of anthem/epic/dutch trance and incorporated it into a more simple, catchy toned, formulaic house music.
If we look at house music in the 80s and 90s, it was completely different. As a matter of fact, classic/acid house had lent many of its ideas to early classic trance. In other words, trance borrowed many elements from the original house music days. Trance then branched off from progressive house and created the notorious dutch/anthem "build up,break down, drop" formula. Now although this idea was used and abused and bastardized to the point where trance was no longer fun, the house music kids (or old fart DJs) took the formula from trance and put it into house.
So it's almost like everything went around in a circle. but I'd like to say I agree with Ishkur even though it is unfortunate that this was the direction the EDM scene had to take. According to Ishkur he says it's our fault that the predictable anthem-break-drop formula of trance leaked over to house music.
So what's your thoughts on it? |

| He's always had a giant hate-boner for the genre, what I don't get is why it matters, just like the that you like. Yeah, pop house and unicorn trance have some common elements. I for one am having a pretty good time out there. |

Trance merely exploited an existing formula. Lest we forget anthem house was an actual thing for the first half of the '90s?

When I created a thread asking him when he was going to make a new guide, he didn't really answer that particular question. Instead he just said "all this music exists because of you!!"

True. I very much agree that the coined proclaimed term that is "house" going around nowadays is nothing like the classic house EDM in the 80s and 90s. Though I don't know what exactly makes it not different.... could you elaborate on your thoughts on why it isn't really house?
From what I see.... the "house" you hear currently is...
* has no acid, psychedelic sounds like the acid house movement
* is heavily dependent on trance's formulas
* very dependent on similar euphoric synth melodies that trance had
that's about all I can think of for now... since I dont listen to old school house that much so I dont know too much. |

There are hundreds of house records being made at the moment with acid in them. Some random examples:
All less than a year old and found pretty much at random on Beatport just now simply by looking up producers who make this kind of stuff.
House never went anywhere. In 2014 it sounds more like the 1980s than it has done at any point since. All this retro acid warehouse stuff is flavour of the month.
You aren't hearing house. What your idiot friends call house isn't house, never was house and has no connection to house. It's basically just the modern successor of Euro dance mixed in with the gratingly obnoxious digital sounds of nu-electro and brostep.
Seriously, ditch all of your friends, grow the up and actually listen to some cool modern music. |

Ping Pong
exists because of Poing:
Ergo Ping Pong Trance exists because of Poing. Armin van Buuren is Dutch, and so are the producers of "Poing," Danny Scholte and Maurice Steenbergen. The latter are a gay couple who raised Armin van Buuren, and Ping Pong Trance is the bastard child of a homophobic misalliance.
There are rumors that Ping Pong Poing will soon be released as a result of the incestuous love triangle of AvB and Rotterdam Termination Source. This will herald an entirely new genre of EDM, sources point out. |
