Recording a mix onto my laptop

Haven't recorded a mix in ages, and am now trying to record from my Stanton M203 into my laptop, using Audacity.
There's a kind of a feedback noise present with the recording. Why is this, and how do I get rid of it?
Settings in Audacity seem correct, and I'm using a dual RCA to 3.5 mm cable, plugged into my laptop's mic input. |

| RCA to 3.5m to a computer is noisy connection setup. Get a proper soundcard, my advice. |

| I recorded my previous mixes years ago in the exact same way, which came out fine, so surely I must be doing something wrong. Or should I try using a different software? |

You might try an inexpensive ground loop isolator from radio shack as a quick fix.
Try another set of cables too. Believe it or not sometimes that can be it. |

Bought another pair of cables from Radio Shack to replace the ones from the 99¢ store and it worked. :) Thanks! |
