Hey guys, I'm throwing a little rave next month after Christmas. Yes, it's actually a rave, in a house where it is private and invites only, not a big ing club concert like the other stuff.
I want to find some good visualizations that go with the music. You know, like at a concert they have these super nice lights that synchronize with the music quite well. Do you know any lights that strobe along when you hearing the drop of a trance track coming?
Are lights able to strobe itself at certain times of a trance track like right between the buildup and the drop? I wanna pull a more theatrical effect. Do I have to pre-set the lights to synchronize with the track or do I have to buy something that can detect the music and do it?
Aside from that, I was wondering if you guys knew any good visualizations that go well with trance? From what I observed, Windows Media Player and iTunes have really cool visualizations.
I'm more concerned about the lights though. I wanna find some cool lights that synchronize with the music quite well. |

Buy a couple of sets of these, they are pretty cheap: (check @ 7:15)
I had a 3 channel lightorgan when I was about 15 years old, I think. It came with 3 lights, but I figured out it could handle 300 Watts per channel. So with 60 Watt lamps I could connect up to five at each channel.
I went to the store, got me two white bookshelves, 14 lamp holders and 14 colored lamps. Connected the input with a speaker output, as it didn't have a build-in microphone and carried them to every single party I DJ-ed for several years.
Cool, I even found a picture, it's the yellow one at the top:

I gave it to my younger nephew and they have thrown it away, my masterpiece :whip:
I also had a strobe, but didn't use it a lot. Also it stopped working when getting to hot, so that sucked. |

Lazers suck, discolights rule, if you don't have scanners. Scanners can give strobe effect too, but they are a bit expensive for home use. |

| Nothing like an obscure '80s anime playing on a big screen. Or it, just throw on Akira. |

Guys I was wondering if you had an idea of something more like this:
I was actually at this particular concert, except at the time I had no idea what Suburban Train was. I did in fact know Silence, but not yet Suburban Train. I want a nice presentation like that, but more meant for a smaller room. |

I don't think such equipment will work well in a small room.
Maybe look for a good video and project it at a wall with a good beamer.
What's your budget? |

| If you guys really want to set a standard you should try red real homing lazers. Def to hot to touch but thats the style in the club scene. |

I fully support this idea... I'll never forget when I saw Dieselboy spin, he had "Spriggan" playing in the background, and it fit his set so perfectly... |
