I lost 110 lbs in six months back in 2001. I was on a doctor supervised 900 calorie diet (6oz of white meat/fish, 1lb non-starchy vegetables, 2 fruits, extremely little cereals, no pasta, no rice, no oils, no dairy, no alcohol). I saw a nurse 3 times a week for urine tests, blood pressure tests etc. and to have a B6/B12 shot administered. I saw a doctor once every 2 weeks for an exam. The program also had a lengthy period where foods were reintroduced following the weight loss so you got to learn what foods worked for you in what amounts. I intentionally put 20 lbs back on because I looked disgustingly thin at 160 lbs. In the 13 years since my weight has fluctuated within a 10 pound range of 180 lbs.
Honestly, nothing about the diet I was on was challenging. I was never hungry, tired, or weak. The only partially difficult thing was that everything had to be made from raw ingredients; however, that is really how we should all be eating anyway (admittedly it was a little inconvenient at times).
My advice, if you really want to lose a significant amount of weight, find a bariatric doctor supervised program. |

went from ~106kg down to ~85 and i plan to drop 10kg more or so. i do lchf with intermittent fasting. i usually don't eat anything between 20:00 and 12 (no night meals and no breakfast). some weeks i have 2-3 days were i fast for 24h.
i pretty much eat meat (pork, cow, chicken, salmon, codfish, elk, reindeer), lots of vegetables, butter, cocont oil and mayonnaise. i try to cut back a bit on dairy products.
i've pretty much eliminated my sick days from eating like this. colds last for 3-4 days now instead of 15+, headaches are pretty much gone and i haven't taken any mediciation for my ulcerative colitis in over 2 years. no more blod clots either. |

| I used to be 170 lbs. That may not seem like a lot, but I'm 5 ft tall. I cut out most fast food (I eat fast food about twice a month now), I ate less, and work out about 3-5 times a week (depending on my work schedule). I'm now at about 145. I'd like to lose more and tone up more, so I might go with a paleo-ish diet, not being really strict about it but cutting out more sugars and gluten and such. Also thinking about quitting doing any drinking (I drink about a beer a week; not much, but would still help). |

You know for a crash weight loss, some of the diet pills really do work.
The one that I've seen some of my clients take were Adipex. Not the knockoff stuff that you buy online, the real deal that you get from the Doctor.
seriously works. One woman I know was getting married and she was about 25lbs over where she wanted to be three months out. She was working out 3 times a week and doing yoga once or twice a week as well.
She lost 40lbs in 2.5 months. The tricky part is that you you have to be really careful how you ween yourself off them.
They basically turbo charge your metabolism and reduce both your appetite and hunger, so the problem is that as you come off them, even though your metabolism won't necessarily swing right back, the hunger comes back and you have to manage that very carefully, which is usually always an issue for people that have weight problems in the first place. |

Physically, yes, you're right. The difference is, you drink less wine than you do beer. Think about it in terms of volume. One standard drink (in Australia) is 250ml of normal 5% strength beer, but only 100ml of wine, which is around 13%. So for the same amount of alcohol, you've physically drunk less liquid, and consumed less calories.
Edit: There are also a load of carbs in beer, which obviously don't help with weight-loss. |
pwned, with science! |

3 years ago, I lost 15 kg (33 pounds) in half a year, mostly by eating less and moving a little more. Half of it came back because I started eating more again.
A year ago, I decided to try the 5:2 diet, where you eat normally for five days a week, and max 600 calories (500 if you're female) the other two. Lost 15 kg this way. It would probably have been more, but I ate a lot of candy and other unhealthy stuff during the week. Still, that's pretty good IMO. The hardest part was going all day without eating basically nothing at all. |

A lot of it is training your mind. You to train your mind to feel disgusted by eating more than you need to. Overeating is psychological not biological. You have to train your mind. Like any discipline, you need to step outside your self. Create mental fortitude.
It's your belief system. You need to have a constant purpose, and when you fail you remember the purpose again, the reason you fail is to learn and keep going to achive your goal.
Your belief system shapes your behaivour. You;ve got to raise your standards and then actually be;lieve you can accomplish them.
if you set a higher standard, and you can get yourself to believe, then you certainly can
figure out the strategies.
so to sum up:
1. Change your standards
2. Change your limiting beliefs
3. Change your strategy |
