sound like a stupid question but this is serious health hazard

serious health hazard. my question is.... do cell phones still give people brain tumors????? is it true that the smaller the cell phone is, the worse it is to give you some kind of cancer.

i just recently got the new Samsung R225 cell phone. Nice looking and it has a blue light on the face. It is quite small than the other cell hpones but it was for free with a 1 year contract.

i was kinda hesitant and can return it within 14 days if i want if i decide i don't like it. the reason why im hesitant on keeping it is that it is the newest cell phone samsung came out with so im thinking this has probably hasn't been tested for radio frequency hazard or some crap like that. i have 250 min for one month so that limits me to 10 min a day not including weekends since weekend are for free.

waves that cellphones emit are relatively weak becuause of their relatively large wavelengths... i dont feel like doing the calculation but the enenergy of the waves are much much smaller than what is needed to break bonds that are in your brain. thats the physics.... as far as long term effects, theres no good way to test so i guess youre gonna have to wait... im sure it wont take that much out of your lifetime : )

[edit] i think that there are many other forms of radiation out there that are more harmful than cellphone radiowaves. so no worries, i think you hear alot about it becuase people are trying to make money with beltclips and headsets...personally if it were harmful, i woudlnt want it near my groin... but thats just my opinion

yeah just about anything that runs on electricity could potentially give you cancer....

i heard that Ericsson cells are the best about radiation tho - gotta love those Swedes.

y0 thre...

i took part in a mobile phone experiment.. we found that a mobile phone emits more radiation than beta radiation.. and is also pretty close to gamma radiation. In other words when u talk on ur phone microwaves are going straight into your head, and well... its basically "cooking" ur brain like a mircowave oven does to food. Lets just say from now on i only use my mobile phone if its really nessassairy.

:nervous:

without sounding rude thats a load of crap :\ ur rite in that microwaves to belong to the longwave category... In a microwave oven u get filters, with horizontal slits so small that the waves cant fit thru. But in mobile phones u dont get that kind of filter, or protection. And let me assure these waves are not weak at all. Dont let anyone tell u different. The way i see it, is whats the point in taking the risk. Think about it.. i mean before i became aware of the dangers, i used to talk on my mobile in my own house when i actually had access to a normal phone.. Its just things like that, that are really pointless. Anywayz ive ranted on long enuf.

Unless you talk on your phone 25/7 for about 10 years straight. Dont worry about it.

Maybe I'm biased cause I sell them. I use 5000+ minutes a month on a cell phone, and my brain still works fine.

Without sounding rude, Mike, but what *YOU* said is a load of crap.

Find yourself an electromagnetic radiation spectrum and have a good, long, hard look at it. You will find that microwave radiation has a long wavelength, as has already been established. You will also find that it (obviously) has a low frequency, and is not very energetic at all. Not nearly energetic enough to ionise anything important.

Now, lets just remember that microwaves are below VISIBLE LIGHT in terms of energy. Are you afraid of visible light? I don't think so.

Also, how are microwaves meant to reach your brain to give you a tumour? Last time I checked, visible light cannot penetrate my skin, let alone my skull. Considering microwaves are much less penetrating that visible light, they sure as hell aren't going to get anywhere near your skull.

Thankyou.

No, it's fine you can use it Mike ;) I guess Tom must have taken it from my post about the incident :stongue:

People who have cancer (tumors) running thru their genetic pool run a greater risk if they use their cell phone all to often. That is fact indeed.
Heck, just use a simple hand-free device like a microphone ear piece, or a head set. They work great and pick up clear. Here in NYC people chat on their cellphone all day anywhere. It is so ridiculous.

hehe, well if we are all wrong, and we do get brain tumours or something, we could always bring forth a multi-billion pound/dollar lawsuit against all Mobile phone manufacturors and network providers.

If u think back to the cases where many people have been suing cigarrette companies because they got cancer, they won. The only resons they won was that there were memos floating around the offices of the tobacco companies, stating that they were addictive and carcinogenic. And warnings on all cigarettes were in place before these people had started smoking. So they shouldn't have won really!

ANyways, back to the point. If Nokia/Sony Ericsson/Motorola/Samsung etc had the knowledge that mobile phones do cause tumours/cellular defects, they would easily be sued for billions.

but of course, u'd have to bring the case forward in America of course, cos in Europe, the justice system isn't that stupid :p
