Thunderbolt Question. (quickie)

Is possible to bypass converter routing if daisy chaining thunderbolt interfaces?

for example i would like to a/b test D/A's in a Lynx Hilo and The Ensemble.

In the past I think this could be done with digital out (RCA) from a converter to digital in to another converter, for example a cd player digital out to a proper dac digital in.

The lynx hilo has 2 thunderbolt ports and the ensemble also. My Mac Pro has many actually lol.

Please if you know, help.

Yes.

You have two options:

1, Get a passive switch/monitor control like the SM Audio MPatch 2 which lets you switch between to sets of monitors.

2, A lot of pro speakers have two sets of balanced inputs (XLR and TRS for instance) and you can plug in to both from two different devices. WARNING: NEVER HAVE BOTH DEVICES PLAYING AT THE SAME TIME. LIKE METH. NOT EVEN ONCE. UNLESS YOU LIKE HAVING DEAD SPEAKERS.

3, (variation on the above) - You could make a cable that is a Y-Split (Dubbing cable) which comabines two pairs of connectors at one end to one end, and one pair of connectors at the other. You wire so it's an exact copy, not a true split.

Same warning as above.
