I dont even know what youre trying to say about elserly misinterpreting info from a database that will harm them. The whole point is that the database holds 100% of their record, thus being able to identify possible side effects and interactions, and thus not dispensing them.

I don't know where you're getting the belief that a pharmacist (or pharm tech with very little training/schooling, is more accurate than a specifically designed automated system.

How many elderly people do you know that could handle an automated system without difficulties?

I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm just curious how would a computer database full of information (including their medical history and the medications they are on + possible side-effects and possible adverse reactions) be controlled? Wouldn't there still need to be someone around to answer questions? At least questions about how the damn database works?

You need a ridiculous intricate computer system to do that.

Maybe they could use the hundreds of millions of dollars that pharmacists are paid around the world to design it.

We have don't have that kind of tech to do that. You need an AI to read a data base and prescribe something base on past history, allergies, drug interaction , dosage , following up with doctors. Easier said than done.

Like I said before pharmacist do more than just retail...

the point is, pharmer doesnt need judgement to do their jobn....not in terms of anything medical...all they do is take the order from the doctor then dispense the drug. they cant say..."oh doctor, this isnt the right drug for this patient....you should reconsider this....." t they arent treating a patient, theyre like a nurse.....doing the administration of the person who treats the patient

They absolutely can, and will, do this in Australia. It's not like what you seem to think a "nursing roll" is at all. Here, if the pharmacist isn't sure about your prescription/details/etc., you'll get the full 20 questions routine, and if they're not happy with how you answered, then they'll request to get in touch with your doctor to clarify things before you get your . And they are very well trained to do this, it's a long and intense degree, and even after that it's quite a long time before they can start personally filling prescriptions themselves - It has to be done by the supervising pharmacist, which would mean a masters degree (and a considerable amount of practical experience).

There are so many massive government sponsered IT jobs that go horribly wrong even after obscene amounts of money are thrown at them. Could you imagine one for pharmacy? The kind that when it screws up it has the potential to kill people? There's no way that'd happen any time soon.

I'm just curious as to how this giant computerised pharmacy would actually work. Would there still be humans employed to actually retrieve the bottles of pills and deliver them to the customer, or is RUSSELL proposing a gigantic pharmaceutical vending machine where everything works in an elaborate system of pulleys and levers?

ok....but if a doctor keeps prescribing stuff to his patients, and he keeps getting this pharmer calling him back...sayiong..."mehhhhh, i don't thin k this is right...mehhhh, I did a full check on this situation....mehhh.....this is prolly a better route to go...mehhh..." do you think the doctor is going to deal with thtat? the pharmer is not their as a consultant, they re there as a dispenser. they work for the drug companies......directly or indirecetly....there job is to dish out pills, not tto question every sheet they get from doctors. doctors dont have time to waste justifying therre prescriptions to pharmeacists all the time that's not how it works....

i bet by the book, you learn that youy're supposed to be this and that and be like this gatekeeper....no....no just no...not in the real world.

some of them prolly have this power trip that their like the gatekeeper......

it;'s like when you go to business school and learn to be a fancy auditor.....and work at kpmg.....you learn that you re supposed to do this and that and examine and test etc......and always question....but then when you get in the real world....your role is a business relationship woith the client and your role is to check off all the boxes and sign off that theire a clean company.....with a billion dollar contrat on the line they dont want people going in there and saying "mehhhh this suspicious: mehhhh....these numbers look off...mehh.." thats not good business.
