Hi

I mixed tons of CDs and now i want to do something "new"..........
I want to visualize my Set with amazing animations and i think the best format for this is Super Video CD (2 CDs, 45 min on each of them). But i have a problem: I have animations (for example: Winamp Plugins and all this stuff, there are really good ones) but i don't know how to convert them into avi/mpeg files. As far as i know there's no way to do that.....
If u have any ideas for getting animations or converting winamp plugs into video-files, tell me!
What do u think about this project? I think there isn't any other apart from the X-Mix compilations, which are a little bit outdated.....

i think this project is absolutely awesome. if i had a way of doing it i'd do it myself (with psytrance for nice tripping sessions)...

can't help you man, i have no clue. try to google it.

I think if you wanted to do this properly and professionally, you would need some more equipment.

you can buy Video Mixers i think, that allow you to overlay one image over another, like a DJ mixer allows you to overlay one song over another.

So, what you would do would be, plug your computer with winamp visualizations into that, then another source, maybe another computer, so you could add text (like key vocals of songs) overtop of that.

then the output of the video mixer goes into your VCR recording the whole thing. (or, better, straight back into your comp, if it could handle all that, and had the right video card)

then you record that as an AVI or mpeg file, and your done.

that's the therory, i have no idea on the specifics though. Let me know if you ever produce anything like this, i am interested in doing this too.

also, what are these X-mix things about? I have a paul van dyk set, called the X-mix, is there a video to go along with this too?

This is the kind of equipment i am talking about.

you could use this to add words:

and this to mix in the video sources:

and this for editing:

you will need a damn good computer for this kind of stuff though.

get a vj to help you

sorry if I were around your area I'd help you :p

btw one thing most of you people might not be aware of, if you want to vj , don't buy a digital video mixer, they are slow and not highly reactive..

I have a project of doing a vcd/dvd to hand out at clubs, but I'm still working on doing my own footage cause I want it to be kinda 100% me ( as I will also do an extremely varied mix for the occasion )

if you need any info, go to vjforums.com or the other site part of the same group vjcentral.com ( more informative )

I say your best bet since you're not going to be doing this kind of thing live, get loops off audiovisualizers.com

and then mix them together with Adobe Premiere, or Avid if you have access to Avid ....

concerning video mixers I personnaly use : VIDEONICS DIGITAL VIDEO MIXER and well it's good, but so much that's worthless like the tons of transitions, a hypra reactive T BAR, it's kinda tricky, and expensive

if you want to get a video mixer, serious and cheap , buy a Panasonic WJ MX 12

oh and don't use Sonic foundry Vegas it sucks

seeing your project is to do something GOOD, your best bet will be to do this 100% NLE ( non linear editing ) with premiere

you could always do live video mixing with REsolume or arkaos or the billions of vj ing apps out there

hope I didn't confuse you , and feel free to come up with other questions , I *can* answer them.

The vj scene hates that ( Winamp AVS plugin )....

but my piece of advice if you're going that route :

pull loops out of these, and track them with premiere, it's gonna take some work learning how to do it right but it will be worth it.

Oh i don't want spent weeks with this project.........i take some good visualizations and change their look, movement and so on by hotkeys while i'm recording them....but i have another problem.....when i play the recorded vis it is too fast.....too many frames....i nearly fixed thsi problem with VirtualDub but it is a lot of work, cause i have to do it with every single track in this mix.....
