It doesn't really contain any presets yet. There are people posting stuff up on the KVR forum though.

What about you Geoff, you gonna make a preset bank for us? :)

For sure. Just as soon as I sort a couple of other things out and they release a final version!

I'm sold. I have been testing it for a while, it is really easy to use, the sound is good, the implementation of different sound engines is cool, and the way two filters interact with each other is great, and CPU usage is really economical, it works seamlessly on my laptop which has terrible issues with Spire for example. Already made some cool presets and it is working out great, this is a cool christmas present, love it :D

2X HIVE Pluck & Supersaw Pad
https://soundcloud.com/l_m_a/kernonite

Two presets I made with u-he HIVE Preview and a song that came out of my ass a few hours ago.
All HIVE's effects used apart from reverb. Saturation and reverb is a bit too much. Can be fixed I might replace it with a cleaner version when I have time.

Third Party effects used
Cytomic The Drop, for the filter sweep.
Valhalla Room, reverb
Slate VMR, VCC, VTM, FG-Red
Soundtoys PanMan

Great video, can't wait for his sound bank..

Really loving this synth already. I had a voucher from the survey off last month so I paid under 60 quid for it. For that price it's hard not to purchase it.

Merry xmas me :D

i'm a fan of u-he products but am unsure of this one. I love sylenth but oddly enough I was very unimpressed with spire. spire is a very capable synth but it never sits right in the mix with other synths I use. everyone else seems to love spire but i've had it for awhile and have yet to use it on a single song. so that makes me iffy with hive, there are some nice sounding moments in demos posted online and there are also some sounds that just sound really thin to my ears. I should demo it and try it for myself tho, for all I know it's the online compression that's making it unimpressive to me.

Hive is nothing like Spire tbh, and I don't really get on with Spire either.

Hive is basically the same as Sylenth with proper Mac64 support, better mod matrix and better FX.

that's reassuring to hear, it seemed like I was the only one who wasn't a fan of spire. your post has convinced me to give the hive beta a test and see how it goes. i'm definitely happy to hear to sylenth comparisons. well, time to go download it. thanks for the reply.

The main difference I can see right now is that the unison on Hive isn't quite as nice as Sylenth. Once you've got to a finished patch it does't matter quite as much, but if you want that W&W raw supersaw patch that's the one place that Hive falls down ever so slightly. It's not a deal breaker and still better than Massive, but I'm hoping they do something about it in an update

For me, Spire is always 'on'. It's an EDM monster.

that's surprising to hear since DIVA recently tried emulating the JP8000's supersaw by adding the "digital oscillator." DIVA didn't nail the JP supersaw 100% - but it sounded good and was impressively close. So when I first heard about Hive, I thought for sure they would incorporate DIVA's supersaw into Hive.

I demo'ed Hive for a little bit, it's a nice sounding synth but I agree with you on the unison. I don't know what it is but it just doesn't sound good to my ears as Sylenth, and to a lesser extent - I feel the same way about the detuning too. With a name like "Hive" I was expected something different I guess. Since the JP8000's supersaw has that harsh buzzing in the upper harmonics, I was expecting Hive to have that kind of sound. It's nice that they have different detune law options, but none of them matched the name imho.

Maybe the synth's name "The Hive" is more of a nod to the mdma chemists of the late 90's / early 00's and not a nod to the buzzing sound of a classic supersaw. j/k It really is a good synth and I think it will serve as a great Sylenth replacement to alot of people. But it's just not for me, it can't do anything that my current line-up can't do better imo.
