Depends on the shade of pink :o |

Actually, I bought my first pinkish shirt last week. Wore it just once and it felt so weird I'm not sure I'm going to give it another go.

Haha, but it's true!
I'm a bookish middle-class kid whose parents hired plumbers/electricians whenever something went wrong. My wife grew up on a farm driving tractors and making her own furniture.
Clogged toilet? Her job. Broken internet? My job.
Light switch not working? Her job. Instructions in weird language? My job.
Zombie outbreak? Her job. Cockroach infestation? Cat beats me to it :p |

lol this thread made me immediately think of one of my friends.
this dude's gender roles are so stuck in the 50's.
he's not very well adjusted.
he literally has to call and get the opinion of his mom on everything he does in life.
he's told me on numerous occasions that he would prefer to have a wife that stays at home and makes like cupcakes for people at the office, etc.
so funny lol.
personally i'm cool with women that can do for themselves, but i would agree with others that said it's nice to be needed for things from time to time. |

| the more she does for me the better. jar opening makes me feel like I'm jacked though. if i can't open the jar i get a nut cracker and grip the lid with that. it works best for small caps and lids. things i dislike doing, chopping wood, sawing branches off the tree, mowing lawn and carrying soil/ manure to the back. if i can train her to do these things as i sit in comfort life will be grand |

A chick on my FB posed a question asking where she could learn how to do basic handy work, like operating a drill, etc. Someone replied "Time to get a husband!" and I replied "Look it up on YouTube!"
I personally like to know how things work and enjoy fixing things and/or putting them together. I figure I'm pretty intelligent and enjoy learning new skills and the satisfaction of being self reliant.
It made me wonder, how independent do men really like their women? I do expect everyone to have different preferences, but the response in that FB thread about getting a husband illustrated to me that a lot of men will moan and groan about having to do "man stuff" for seemingly inept women.... But then they also seem to resent it when a woman can figure it out herself/doesn't need the man to do it.
Be honest, do you find it an affront to your manhood when a woman doesn't "need" you to do "man stuff"? Do you find women who can't figure stuff out for themselves a pain in the ass? Or is it more specific...do you want to be needed in some ways and not in others? |
Woman I don't do handiwork. |

Oh CHANGE a tire, I thought you meant like, do my own summer/winter tire change over each season and hell new I ain't ever doing that. ALL car owners/drivers should know how to do that themselves. It isn't rocket science. And as I told my friend on FB, you can learn anything and everything from the people of YouTube. Heh.
edit// nope, I see you DID mean summer/winter tire change over. Yeah that, lol. Too much work. Man stuff! |
Yeah, summer and winter tires should indicate that :)
I forgot to mention the tires are stored in my dad's cellar. Bringing them down and up again is nice too, especially the heavy summer tires :)
Everybody should try to loosen lug nuts which were fastened with a pneumatic wrench. Knowing what to do in order to change a tire is not enough. If you can't get them loose with your car tools you have still have problem. Women do get quicker help though.
My wife shouldn't change a tire when having a flat one, but call me or the roadside assistance. |

I have no issue changing my own flat - but my bf's family business happens to be tires, which makes it seem actually stupid for me to do my own tire changeover when they have all the equipment to do it in their warehouse. Takes 20 minutes, if that. :) |

Pink dress shirt with a suit is almost as liberating as wearing sneakers with a suit. |

There are many man things I've done when either I didn't have the money or wanted to learn like changing oil. Once you've master it why not pay someone else to do a dirty menial job for you. There are somethings like carpentry you increase your understanding by working your way up from basic tasks to more advanced. Physical tasks like mowing the lawn or cutting a board are great stress relievers. |
