Is there a map that shows where all these different types of music fit in? I tried to make one. Feel free to edit it and repost.

| harcore came before hardtrance, hardtrance just stemmed from trance bieng made harder, also hardhouse comes from hardcore. |

well about the hardcore part
i would do it this way:
old school gabber (born in 1991, holland) & speedcore (1993, usa) -> artcore & darkcore -> happy hardcore (1995, holland) -> new style (1997, holland) |

| Uplifting Trance is kind of a name for all those not too hard, melodic emotional Trance tunes, Epic is the part of it that is massive, long, has huge buildups etc. |

To be honest I don't think there's a difference between "epic" and "uplifting"... and I've never heard of "emotional". Sure, I may describe a trance track as uplifting, epic or emotional, but that doesn't mean I'd give it its own genre. The best term for this type of trance is melodic, since whether a track is uplifting, epic or emotional (according to your definitions) it's going to have some sort of melody. This also differentiates it from prog or tech trance, which typically has a reduced melodic content. |

exactly :)
thats why i asked the original question..."uplifting" and "epic" are the same thing...and they're not genre's, only ways to describe a track. I just call it all trance...or prog trance or prog house (i don't believe there's a genre simply called "progressive").
Whatever, nowadays there's all these mixtures of differen't style's...it can become mind-boggling to classify a track into a specific genre. |

Hardcore -> Happy harcore :nervous:
Breaks -> jungle, drum and bass, garage, 2 step (not 100% sure on these)
Trance -> hard, melodic, epic, symphonic, progressive, deep, acid, goa(maybe in its own genre)
Techno -> acid, minimal, chicago, hardcore?,
House -> techhouse, progressive, deep, funky, chill?, hard, electro?

Ambient
