what's up with the new DJ roster at life (LV)?

did life totally revamp their roster after experiencing poor turnout? i swear when i checked the upcoming events last year it was month after month of quality shows--artists like pete tong, eric prydz, apollonia, etc. according to this link, their upcoming lineup is the same cheesefest as you'll get anywhere else in vegas. pretty disappointing. anyone have any inside info?

I heard about once a month an "underground" party will take place, but from what I can see that concept is dead in the water.

I think the outright failure of LiFE was the final nail in the coffin for any type of quality music in Vegas. Sure, an odd ball here or there maybe, but that's it. Dance music has no place in Vegas outside of pop music and bottle service.

the turnout wasn't good enough to keep the sunday underground party going. blame the locals and fans who didn't go, not the club.

Pete Tong's All Gone Pete Tong party will continue though i'm not sure if that will still be on Sundays or another night. The turnout for Tong + Sasha as well as Loco Dice was actually pretty good for a sunday.

here's guest list for their events this week and weeks going forward (once announced): http://nightlife.slslasvegas.com/edml

yeah, bummer. i thought it was cool that life was taking the risk... guess vegas just isn't ready for that sort of thing yet. i take it the prydz residency was cancelled?

Yep no more Prydz.

I noted in the other thread on Life that Tong will be back with Guy Gerber on March 6th - Tong's party is set to continue which is good news.

They prob lost $$$
Scoops
looks like they ransacked Marquee's DJs
you and me
they tried at least. there is absolutely no market for "good music" in vegas when its audience doesn't show up in vegas.

to expect locals to embrace the underground is a stretch.

you can laugh and call out the cheesefest of vegas, but it sells and they are making some money off of it.

That any of you actually thought SBE would be the beacon of underground music in any city is embarrassing, much less at the Las Vegas casino based cookie cutter club that is Life. SBE’s comfort zone has mostly featured exclusive hip hop clubs as their mainstay… there’s no history of them doing anything other than trying to cash in on a perceived “fad” as they continue to grasp at monetizing “EDM.” Anyone that is upset that “Underground Sundays” have ended should really reexamine what brought you here in the first place. Don’t blame the locals in Vegas. If you have to call it “Underground,” it’s certainly not “underground.” And every single DJ that lined up for their "money grab" and played one of those Sunday nights should have their "underground" card pulled. It all went Pete Tong, which if you don't know, is Cockney rhyming slang for "it all went wrong."

lmao. so much saltiness in this thread all of a sudden. of course nobody expected it to work, and i'm no fan of SBE, but it was exciting that life was doing something new and perhaps bringing some good artists to vegas for once. is it surprising that their effort failed? no. doesn't mean it's not disappointing.
