Anyone Else Used To Get Offended/Embarrassed when...
View this Thread in Original format
Dj Pluviose
Kinda funny, but an honest confession I must make about several things.

- When I first saw TA members make fun of female vocal trance angelic voice ad nauseam, I was really embarrassed. This was back in 2010 when my track collection had Lasgo, DJ MystiK, DJ Babyboi, DJ Loopy, DJ Shog, DJ Eion, DJ KurVy, Fragma, Milk Inc, ..... yeah. I was very embarrassed. Just the fact that I used to rainbows and feel all magical! inside because of those times was literally an awakening. If it wasn't for you guys I'd probably still be the same person.

- When I first saw Ishkur's guide, I was sorta offended by his way of speaking. I thought he was a jerk for making fun of Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, and Armin.

- Before joining TA, I thought all you guys were going to be people who were just listening to basic, barebone Armin's A State of Trance music. I thought I could just talk to you guys about Armin's weekly radio show and discuss the newest tracks. It turns out you guys were on a much deeper, creative, interesting, and more experienced level that it was sorta intimidating and also very hard to adjust to because you guys knew everything about EDM and Trance on a farther level that I could ever fathom. Back then I seriously thought trance all started and ended with Tiesto. I had no idea what progressive house, acid trance, classic trance, hard acid trance, ibiza, dutch anthem or epic trance even existed. I must say the 5 years I've learned a lot from you guys. It is nice because I learned a lot from you guys rather than following what everybody else was doing or listening to. That was a really humbling experience, despite how hard headed and weird I got at times.

- I used to hate darktremor on his listology.com "Top 400 Trance Tracks" because I hated how smart he was, yet how right he was. but the thing is I didn't realize how right he was on so many profound levels because I was just a young snotty kid who knew nothing. He had years of knowledge and experience on me and he came off as such a dick. His list is literally gold by my standards today. Last but not least, I was embarrassed when I compared myself to him even though he'll never know who the hell I was.

soooo... perhaps any of you guys faced similar roads like this when years went by? I dont know how this turned out into a big confession thread, but it did anyway, so just go with the flow. share your feelins and experienced! I mean I've just learned so much from you guys but it was like lots of stuff I couldn't learn right away, it had to take time, and some patience and effort to put in to finally understand certain tracks you guys posted, or why you "felt" a certain way about a mix, album, track, or piece of music.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of you said "The only embarrassment TA has was when DJ Pluviose registered here and posting stupid threads." hahaha

Same here. Also a few months after my first visit, I read a thread about 'the best progressive' or something in this way. So I was ready: 'I'm gonna post this schulz track because he is so good at this progressive thing'. Holy , I still regret my decision. The post still there in somewhere haha.

But I really need to thanks TA... changed my taste for music ENTIRELY.

this is the greatest/worst brain fart of all time.

The only embarrassing thing here is your post.

I'll never forget my utter confusion at first listening to Dance 2 Trance's debut album, and feeling jilted by the lack of any euro dance vocals within.

When I first saw the guide, I thought, "I gotta' have a drink with this dude sometime." And I did. Too many, in fact.

Discovering TA was a revelation, an actual trance forum with posters with some bite and kindred outlooks. The Discogs forum, on the other hand, is where I felt completely out of my element.

Anyone remember Grim on these boards? Same feelings. Well, aside from the 'dickish' part.

Request denied!

The only thing to be embarrassed about is being embarrassed. Everyone here had to acquire their array of dance music knowledge from someone else. Don't be so hard on yourself and never stop asking questions.

I used to get offended when Mr. Mystery shat on anyone for liking uplifting trance even in 2004. I still think Dumonde - Kalt has an awesome lead synth to this day, but I doubt he feels any different about it. :D

Are you sure it was me? I've got plenty of DuMonde records on vinyl.
